This article is extremely opinionated. It also fails to highlight two very crucial details about Developmentalism. 1 being it's numerous successes in Central and South America, and many parts of Africa. 2 it fails to actually point out the most significant reasons that contributed to the decline of Developmentalism; namely the rise of Neoliberalism primarily promoted by the United States and various policies gospelled by the World Bank and the IMF. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Makushline (talk • contribs) 04:46, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
I am not an economist, but I do read quite a bit. This article does seem very opinionated. I am not getting a clear and crisp definition of Developmentalism; its meaning seems to be scattered over numerous paragraphs in different sections, each one defining it a bit inconsistently, not like parts of a whole.
I understand that the article should not be slanted, only informational. However, I want to point out that Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism" leads me to conclude that Developmentalism did have at least some successes in South America. One would have to extract the relevant information to include in this article, I guess, but I think at least some acknowledgment of these successes should be noted. Maybe there could be a supporters/critics section or something like that. Halgol60 (talk) 22:10, 10 July 2009 (UTC)halgol60
Frondizi and Kubitschek are hard to, not to say impossible, to classify as populists. In South American historiography, they are usually defined as "desarrollistas", developmentalists. It's even harder to call them populists when they promoted foreign investment. If the populism banner was applied because of Franco, it'd still be too partial. So I erased it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.229.184.110 (talk) 19:06, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Where are Celso Furtado and CEPAL ?
editDear all,
i fail to understand why an article about Developmentalism doesn't mention people and institutions fundamental to it.
All the best
