- Unfortunately, the source just said Dr Duffy, in the way that academics do when it is really obvious to them who they must be talking about! - Portland was readopted by army as a garrison base in 1869 to fears of an invasion, fix this
- New, quick-firing guns were installed at Hurst to enable them to engage the enemy. Them who? Rephrase.
- By the start of the 20th century, developments in guns and armour had made most of the Device Forts that remained simply too small for hosting modern weapons systems and the supporting logistics facilities such as munitions stores.
