Charles Fort

This story, and its original sources, are here: [1]. Fort is out of copyright, so I'm going to adopt, adapt and improve. Totnesmartin 20:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Mice

Just wondering if there is an error here - the link for Hopping Mice refers to a page that describes them as an Australian mammal, yet the incidents of Devil's Footprints occurred in England and other parts of the world.

Did the author mean generic mice that hop, or specifically Australian Hopping Mice mysteriously present in England?

It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, the actual species of mouse it was attributed to redirected to Hopping Mouse.

[Reply] The article is just saying that similar footprints have been made in Australia by Hopping mice and the link is there so people can read about hopping mice, doesnt necessarily mean that The Devil's Footprints are linked to Hopping mice - I think :) --222.152.237.163 07:56, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

What were hopping mice doing in Victorian Devon anyway? Totnesmartin 20:06, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Size?

"These "footprints", measuring 1.5 to 2.5 wide" - inches, presumably? --81.102.216.3 19:05, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Inches indeed. Thanks for spotting that. Totnesmartin 15:34, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Mass hysteria

Is there a source for the mass hysteria claim? And how would mass hysteria account for people out of contact with each other sseing the same thing? Something there doesn't add up. Totnesmartin 16:29, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Date discrepancy

If the event occurred in 1855, that the Times quote appeared in 1840 is even more paranormal.Dale662 (talk) 14:08, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I've slapped on a couple of tags. --Neo (talk) 15:46, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I've "cleaned it up" a bit, since there is no inconsistency. The topline states that this concerns another occurance, which may very well have happened 15 years earlier. There is no inconsistency in that. /Ludde23 Talk Contrib 16:09, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

weather balloon

removed reference to weather ballon, as seems to be a joke. can be added back with reference.

Hello - I have reinserted the weather balloon theory are there are many sources available for it online and have included one such for reference. PS - please remember to sign your name when leaving messages in order to make communicating easier. Happy editing! ponyo (talk) 19:27, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
To be perfectly accurate, there were no weather balloons as we know them at the time; Geoffrey Household just called it an "experimental balloon" and I have edited the text to include a reference to his book rather than a 3rd-hand source. I can highly recommend his book BTW for anyone interested in contemporary accounts of the whole Footprints mystery. Salmanazar (talk) 13:18, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Excellent! I was more concerned about getting a quick reference in to avoid losing the info altogether. Thanks for the clean-up and clarification! ponyo (talk) 15:01, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
