Sources

[edit]

A few cites were recently added to the article, however they almost all have issues. Some existing ones also do. To itemise them;

  • This cite is used in a few places. It says they have toured for ten years, not eleven as claimed in the article. And five albums, not six. Otherwise, it contains little about what is mentioned in the first sentence prior to it. Not the genre, the year formed, number of albums, record label, or the nature of their fans. It confirms a small number of gigs in Europe. However, chief problem is it is a user generated website. That means it was likely written and updated by the band itself, and therefore cannot be considered a neutral or reliable source.
  • Not sure what this BBC cite is being used to verify. It's just a gig review that doesn't contain anything mentioned on the article.
  • The youtube video was not published by any reputable source, and does little but confirm someone recorded them at a gig sometime. It verges on trivia. The content is in Slovakian, so no-one can tell what is said. Technically it's a copyright violation.
  • This source is a forum post. Forum posts are never acceptable sources.
  • This is a post from a Usenet newsgroup archive by an unknown person. Usenet Newsgroup posts are rarely acceptable sources.
  • The crowdfunder cite certainly confirms the amount raised. It doesn't say anything about how quickly, who by, or anything about the nature of it.
  • This gig review confirms a gig happened. It doesn't say it was a sell out.

COI edit request

[edit]

I am a member of the band and wish to ensure the accuracy of this article and it’s overall layout per WP:COI I have revised the entry to be strictly factually based on the provided sources. I've removed descriptive language to avoid 'original research' concerns.

I request an entirely new layout in four parts ie: Beginning, two middle sections, and an end: I request a new heading for Section One ‘History and Reception’

I would request that much of the FIRST section that has been removed and altered due to its poor link citations and maintenance be restored and revised. Here are 14 links to reliable sources that confirms the accuracy of this section. Since these are independent secondary sources, this information meets the WP:V (Verifiability) standard and should not be removed as 'unsourced'."

(Devilish Presley were an English gothabilly band from London, England.)

Comment: added section heading, and marked as significant. Also fixed formatting to not be indented fully. Axolitl (talk | contribs) 05:06, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@DevilishPresleyHimself: This is too much info for someone to review, and the format makes it even harder. An independent reviewer will not be able to spend >3-4 hours reading through this to make the requested changes, while also reviewing to see what's changing in the current article. Anything added or deleted has to be checked. I recommend instead you look at this format guide that I put together. It shows the info in a nice easy before and after format, and lessens the work for reviewers by placing sources inline immediately after the text they are supposed to support, so editors can easily click on them to check each statement. Good luck. STEMinfo (talk) 01:44, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Redux

[edit]

Hello, I made a COI request in March and have just been told I need to reformat the page or something I am utterly confused, I thought someone else was going to make the changes requested HELP!! DevilishPresleyHimself (talk) 14:33, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

This was not formatted correctly. COI editors should post proposed edits to this talk page rather than the article itselfCzarking0 (talk) 21:07, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
"COI editors should post proposed edits to this talk page rather than the article itself" That is exactly what I did, laid out below - the article has not been touched by me - because this is what I was told. DevilishPresleyHimself (talk) 12:34, 29 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@DevilishPresleyHimself: Following your request at The Teahouse, I have refactored the discussion above to fix the formatting and I have collapsed your previous request, to make the rest of this discussion easier to read.

We do not accept requests in the form of entire article re-writes like the above. Please submit a series of smaller changes, such as "remove A" or "change B to C", or "add D", where D is a single sentence or short paragraph; and where each change addresses a single point. Each change or addition should be accompanied by one or more reliable sources, and removals by an explanation. It is best to submit such requests no more than three at a time.

Before doing so, you might find it beneficial to read Wikipedia:Simple conflict of interest edit request. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits; 14:04, 29 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you SO much Andy. DevilishPresleyHimself (talk) 14:32, 29 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi Andy. I have submitted the COI request on the talk page exactly as you suggested. Since you are already familiar with the article, would you mind reviewing the shorter edit to ensure it meets your standards? DevilishPresleyHimself (talk) 12:50, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
You have not. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits; 14:01, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

This is still not in the requested format. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits; 14:04, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't know how to do it, I am giving up. DevilishPresleyHimself (talk) 14:19, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate your help, particularly as you are not anonymous (good on you!!) But I can't see any difference between the two? All I wanted was for the band to have a decent entry on Wikipedia. I can edit on the main page but am disallowed from doing that. I am not sufficiently computer literate to deal with all these arcane formats. This is literally costing me money now because (unfortunately) agents, labels etc look at this site. The band isn't inactive and has reformed. The solo project never happened so the page is completely out of date. Most of the things I want to put back were taken down due to lack of sources that I have painstakingly supplied. I have done all the work, if I was editing this page it would take me 10 minutes. Instead I had to wait 5 months to get nothing. Can you please help me I have poor mental health and this is making things worse. DevilishPresleyHimself (talk) 14:36, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I advised you to make requests "where each change addresses a single point".
Rather than rewriting an entire section, that might be, say:
  • Change "they released five albums" to "they released six albums" (citation: https://example.com/band-release-album-six)
  • Change "formed in Scotland in 2003" to "formed in East London in 2002" (citation: https://example.co.uk/famous-bands-of-east-london)
  • Delete "they disbanded permanently in 2020" (citation: https://example.org/band-announce new tour)
Such requests are far easier for the volunteers who will review them to assess and respond to. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits; 14:51, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

  • Change "Devilish Presley were an English gothabilly band from London, England" to "Devilish Presley are an English gothabilly band from London, England"
