A photo.. to begin with (?)

edit

Devon Rex (female kitten)

I just found one of the first photos of Urd (my Devon Rex). Of course I can't be very NPOV about her, so I uploaded it, but I leave to others to judge and, in case, put it in the article. I can search thru my photo archive or even take specific photo of her, if needed (she's 7 years old now). --Lapo Luchini 13:30, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I'm going to add this picture to the breed table, until we have one of an adult. If you have any good pictures of her now, they would be very useful. Lachatdelarue (talk) 14:14, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Copy edit

edit

I have done a brief copy edit of the page. I removed an unnecessary ref to the businesses selling these cats, as it was already referred to in the sentence, plus the individual naming of a cat in a caption. I also have no idea what is meant by this sentence:

  • Toe color varies from fur color to fur color.

so I have removed it. If a non-expert (such as me) doesn't understand what is meant, it should be rephrased. Can someone who knows what was meant re-phrase and reinsert? 86.133.246.184 22:16, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Devon Rex (Adult, Female, 'Sirex')

I have added a picture here of our Adult Female Devon Rex. She has sealpoint siamese markings. You can use it or delete it if you want.

Discrepancy in info provided re: Devon layers/types of hair

edit

There's a discrepancy in the info on this page.

In "Discovering and Relations" it says that Devons have all three types of hair: "In the Devon Rex, all types of hair are present but are abnormal in texture." (which seems confirmed by the reference below), but then in "Role In Allergy Control" it says there's a missing layer: "It is true that their missing layer of hair..."

Is there someone who knows more about the breed who could fix the problem in the Allergy section?

On the CFA breed page (http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/articles/devon.html) it says: The Devon has all three types of coat hair; however, the guard hair is very sparse, short and rexed. It has a slightly denser texture and is thus responsible for the more open, billowing wave and the looser curl of the Devon coat.

Although this is good and detailed article in general, there were parts that were somewhat poorly written or not in an encyclopeadic style (Eg. "They are the ETs of the cat world"). There was a little too much information on the prices in the introduction (we aren't told what relevance the changes in prices have), and the behaviour section was too long. I've thinned some of it out, and I've also removed:

"They become very attached, often following and miaowing for their human and sitting on their shoulder, like a pirate's parrot.

Additionally, the Devon Rex is extremely fond of "helping" its owners around the house with all manner of tasks. Whether one is washing the dishes, vacuuming the carpet, pruning the garden or taking out the rubbish - the owner of a Devon will find their velvet furred friend only too happy to assist in whatever manner it may. Generally this consists of poking and prodding with paws and climbing to a better vantage point but can also involve darting in and out between ones legs. If you try and shut a devon out, they will cry and feverently try to open the door."

as I don't see what extra this information it really conveys, and strays on the wrong side of cutesyness. --163.1.176.254 22:23, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I thought that was the name for an alien, not a cat! Haha!
