editI removed the following text as it was not accurate:
was a theory in geology, now obsolete, that attempted to explain continental drift. It was discarded in the 1960s or so, with the discovery of plate tectonics.

Obsolete term?
editDiastrophism is a term that has fallen out of general use in my experience. A search of google books returns mainly pre-1980 titles whereas a search of the term 'Tectonism' a synonym, returns mainly post 1980 titles; it seems clear to me that the one term has more or less replaced the other. I am going to change the article to reflect this unless there are any objections. Mikenorton (talk) 12:13, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
