Notable residents
editAt 10:53, on 21 October 2011 SirJibby deleted the last remaining reference, in the Notable residents section, to Ron Lane, saying: not really a notable resident if there isn't even a wikipedia article about him. SirJibby is totally correct, of course. However, I just want to re-paste the original sentence (as it was in July 2010) here, just in case anyone ever does write a wikipedia page about him (which I think could, and should, be done one day): 'The village was also home to Ron Lane, a wood sculptor of wildlife, known not just in Hampshire but throughout the United Kingdom.' OK, OK, so the sentence would need some wikifying before it is pasted back into the article, but there it is, as it originally stood. TheAMmollusc (talk) 07:45, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Seems reasonable. A reference proving his notability might help. I had a quick look, and found a nice British Pathe film clip, apparently filmed in Dibden Purlieu, of his work: [1]. Pasicles (talk) 23:37, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Excellent. Well found. I followed your link (and watched the video, of course), and made a note of the following bibliographic information (which will be needed by whoever is bold enough to start creating the page for Ron Lane):
- Issue Date: 1969; Sound: Mute; Time in: 01:50:10:00; Time out: 01:54:15:00; Canister: UN 4462 A; Film ID: 3318.20; Sort number: UN 4462 A; Tape: *PM3318*

- Six weeks have gone by -- noone's objected -- I think you can get away with restoring the deleted line by now. :) Pasicles (talk) 20:12, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- OK, you emboldened me!! I thought about it, and realised that even if we did create an article on Ron Lane, someone would label it as a stub, and propose merging it to the Dibden Purlieu page. So I have reverted to this idea, as you suggest, of putting all the information here (complete with the bibliographic reference to the Pathe film clip that you found). Well done, and thanks for your work. TheAMmollusc (talk) 12:29, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
