Delete this stub?
editI searched, and this is the only COBE instrument listed in the General Info sidebox that has its own article, and it is a stub. Unless this precise type of instrument under the same name is used in other article-worthy missions, I can see no reason why we'd need to duplicate the information in the COBE article to flesh out this stub.
However, this is not my area of expertise, so I must leave further work to those who either know or can research the subject. Sorry I couldn't do more. Thanks! Geekdiva (talk) 06:08, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't agree that this should be deleted, properly written, an article on these instruments would make the COBE article way to long, and probably less useful to many readers.Ercannon (talk) 04:16, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
future work
editI took the first steps to working on the article, moving some of the more technical data to a new section and adding a little more info. Thought for future work:
- Add a full sky image of the data from DIRBE, there are some online, maybe one appropriately licensed could be found?
- Add some information about the findings from this mission. Obviously our understanding of the IR background has improved since then, but it looks like this did provide a big step forward in our understanding, especially in terms of putting limits on the amount of IR energy out there and in understanding interstellar dust.
