Official subs

edit

Can anyone add info on the new subbed version available here? I'd do it but I don't know how to source.--64.79.179.254 (talk) 14:14, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

English dub movie

edit

I think the two merged movie sections should be separated and have the information about the japanese movies, and a completely separate page made for the dub movie and discussion of differences.

The section as is is extremely confusing. Circeus 17:13, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

indeed, they really made a mess out of the first three movies and that whole situation needs to be explained. -- Ned Scott 19:54, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Barriers Between Worlds

edit

It appears that the barriers between the Real World and the Digital World weaken over the course of Adventure 01 and 02.

This is evident as in Adventure 01, the children are only able to reach the Digital World through one 'gate'. They only returned to the Real World when Myotismon unlocked an ancient power capable of creating gates between seperate worlds.

Gennai also mentions that the gate that the children entered the Digital World through would 'close forever' when they leave in episode 54.

However, four years later, more gates have opened up; including the one in the school building that is used by the new Digi-destined. There are also gates between the Real World and the Dark Ocean; the Digital World and the Dark Ocean; and the Digital World and Real World with the Dream Dimension.

Also, in episode 45 of Adventure 02, Ken is able to open a gate to the Dark Ocean with his digivice.

All of this shows a weakening barrier between the four worlds (Real, Digital, Dark and Dream)

Any ideas why this might happen? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.111.67.62 (talk) 17:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's not that the gates have weakened. Gates between the real and Digital Worlds open and close randomly from time to time (so at the end of Digimon Adventure, it's not the kids could never go to the Digital World again, it's that they didn't know WHEN it might open again). The new DigiDestined's D-3 Digivices have the power of opening gates of the kids' will, which is how they're able to go through gates freely.
The Dark Ocean is a more complicated matter, since we really know close to nothing about it. But it's at least made clear that it is an alternate dimension parallel to the Digital World. It is also mentioned that perhaps it is a place where people's dark thoughts are given power, so it is also similar to the dream dimension in that respect. Since the Dark Ocean is parallel to the Digital World, Ken was able to convert a gate to the Digital World into a gate to the Dark Ocean using the darkness that still resided in his heart (he didn't OPEN the gate, he just changed where it led to).
The dream dimension was accessed completely by accident. The show makes a point of showing that Oikawa put the wrong key card into place when trying to open a gate to the Digital World (he put the Agumon card in the first slot, when Adventure showed us the Gomamon card was the correct one). andrewm1234 76.226.249.8 (talk) 15:57, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

English, Please

edit

This is an English article, and whilst mentioning the character's Japanese names once for information's sake is acceptable, referring to them by their original names constantly is not. This is an English article, so characters should be reffered to by their English dub names. People unfamiliar with their original names may be confused at who is who, and constantly swiching back and forth during the article just makes things needlessly disorienting.

Whether you prefer the original names over the dub names is irrelevant; this article is in the English language. In the English version, the characters are reffered to by their English vesion names. Constantly putting Digimon Kaiser in brackets every time Digimon Emperor is used is not needed, as it has been mentioned once, and the character is not called Kaiser in the dub.

If you don't like it, learn Japanese and edit the Japanese language article here: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%87%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A2%E3%83%B3%E3%82%A2%E3%83%89%E3%83%99%E3%83%B3%E3%83%81%E3%83%A3%E3%83%BC02 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.30.1.163 (talk) 03:16, 5 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Statement about Natsu e no Tobira

edit

This audio drama is not considered canon to the Adventure 02 plotline, due to the fact that it takes place one year after the events of the third movie.

To whom is it not considered canonical by? Can this actually be verified at all? Just because it heavily references the movie does not make it non-canon. It could be that the writers intended to shoehorn the movie into canon. In any case, having watched it myself, aside from the one-off evolutions to Mega for Angewomon and Angemon, what actually confirms within the movie that it is not canonical? There is little to support the statements that they are not.

Another point, why is a fan site being listed as a source for the movie not being canonical? It does not provide any source to back that claim up. Even widely-accepted claims need sources. ggctuk (2005) (talk) 21:34, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

The common reasons Movie 3 (and consequently, Natsu e no Tobira) are considered non-canon is the fact that the movie gives a separate backstory for the Digi-Egg of Miracles than what is given in the anime. In the anime, it was a converted version of the Crest of Kindess created by Azulongmon to help the DigiDestined defeat the Emperor. It was intended to be used once (hence why Magnamon does not appear in the finale: the Digi-Egg of Miracles had ceased to exist). The movie shows that the Digi-Egg of Miracles was "called" or "created" by Seraphimon (who also doesn't appear in the finale, even though there's no reason why he shouldn't have, if the movie was indeed canon), and is simply viewed as being a "gift" or "miracle," in one of the biggest cases of deus ex machina plot device in the entirety of the Digimon anime.
And yes, it is also mainly the Mega forms of Patamon and Gatomon that a lot of people cite as proof. Which, honestly, is proof enough. How did that happen? How did they do it? Why did they KNOW they could do it in the movie, and yet never do it in the anime? Simple: the movie isn't canon. You don't need an official statement to know that things contradict each other or don't add up.
Also, if I recall correctly, the movie actually came out before the episodes of the series in which Magnamon appears, which explains the differing origins of the Digi-Egg, but doesn't excuse them. The movie is likely meant to be taken as out of continuity.
And since most of the Digimon Drama CDs are non-canon anyway (except for the special "Original Story" CDs, which were created to add closure and/or tie up various leftover plotlines from the anime), I don't see why Natsu e no Tobira would be any different. andrewm123476.226.249.8 (talk) 21:29, 28 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but we can't just say "It was X, therefore it is Y" based on what occurs. We need solid proof backed by a reliable source, such as an interview in a magazine or something, not a fan site or fan interpretation. ggctuk (2005) (talk) 14:32, 3 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
But even still, I think we should treat it as non-canon until a developer or whomever says it's canon, not the other way around. As far as I know, that's usually how media relating to franchises is treated (think: Star Trek, Star Wars, etc.). 99.117.238.52 (talk) 20:42, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough, but it would be sourceless if it was put back in the article. Fan sites are not reliable sources as per WP:FANSITE. ggctuk (2005) (talk) 10:21, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Digimon 2

edit

The article starts out with this:

Digimon Adventure 02 (デジモンアドベンチャー02, Dejimon Adobenchā Zero Tsū), commonly referred to as Digimon 2

Since when was it ever referred to as Digimon 2? I've never seen it in writing. Can someone provide a source? lullabying (talk) 15:54, 1 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
