Electoral register

edit

Unsurprising that 'combing the electoral register' this did not help the agents to locate Dikko - it would be surprising if within one year he had become eligible to vote in the UK. Dikko would not be listed. Perhaps he was known to be cohabiting with another person (e.g. girlfriend, child) who could be listed?

It is strange also that there was such difficulty in locating Dikko if he was indeed a 'vocal critic' of the military regime as stated.

The statement that Dikko was located by a Mossad agent who just happened to drive past him in Queensway, London is frankly unbelievable. As the Mossad agent seemingly identified him only by photograph, this statement should be removed or a citation added. Or perhaps a mention could be made of whichever feature of Dikko's extra-ordinary physical appearance allowed him to be spotted so easily.

Finally, Nigeria as a whole is not 'predominately Muslim'. I've deleted that phrase. Centrepull (talk) 11:38, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Poor, potentially misleading sources for this article

edit

The sources for the "Mossad involvement" seem very unreliable.

The article cites the now defunct "Nigerians in America" site: https://web.archive.org/web/20080804003559/http://www.nigeriansinamerica.com/articles/2369/1/The-Mossad-Affair-The-Kidnap-Of-Umaru-Dikko-2/Page1.html

The above article gets its claims about Mossad involvement by citing "Gideon's Spies: The Secret History of the Mossad”. Admittedly I have not read this book, but online reviews claim it is riddled with factual errors and is considered conspiracist. See: https://www.danielpipes.org/805/gideons-spies-the-secret-history-of-the-mossad and https://www.thejc.com/life-and-culture/books/review-gideons-spies-fmpi2v8i

"But one should take his conspiracy theories and some other of his tales of the Mossad’s exploits with a pinch of salt, not least because many of them hinge on the elusive testimonies of unidentified sources."
