How the test works

OK, lets try to settle down the edit conflicts. The point of this test is that it is a clotting assay which is very dependant on the availability of phospholipid for its activity. Thus, substances which alter the availability of phospholipid to the other clotting factors, most notably lupus anticoagulants, cause a prolongation in clotting in this assay, which can be reversed by adding more phospholipid. Hi There, This article definitely needs an update since the references are quite old and the "original" multi-step method superceded. I have been involved with this test since its introduction and have added relevant history. I'm not sure that you need a medico for the mechanism section but rather a laboratory scientist who knows how the test works. I'll have ago at that. The section on clinical significance is still OK despite being quite old.Texner43 (talk) 04:28, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
