Metric Measurements

edit

Er, "Similar formulas exist for metric measurements"... definitely need to put down some of the formulas here, since depending on the country UPS/Fedex/DHL are using LxWxH /5000 or /6000 ... Georgebaily (talk) 08:29, 11 March 2009 (UTC) - Added!Reply

Reduce commercialization

edit

This page is heavily (pardon the pun) promoting a manufacturer of dimensioning devices. Additionally, there are currently pointers to five different dimensional weight calculators. If there are no objections, I will clean this up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by NoahVail (talkcontribs) 23:28, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

I disagree with the proposed merge with Dimensioning etc - Dimensional weight is clearly the base concept, and the other two articles are about machinery and the process of measuring, sub-topics of the base topic - or, alternatively, stand-alone articles. Do not merge the pages. Dimensional Weight is a concept that can be applied with or without the use of Dimensioners. Dimensioners, more commonly known as Multiple Dimension Measuring Devices (MDMD), are machines used to measure the linear dimensions of the packages. In some cases, they also include scales to determine the package weight. The use of an MDMD is NOT required in order to determine the dimensional weight of a package. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Initrubl (talkcontribs) 18:51, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Do not merge the pages. Dimensional weight is base concept that is specific to shipping. It is very clear and concise in its current form. If you merge it with the other pages it will only cause confusion and make it harder to find. Currently most people do not understand that dimensional weight is used in shipping and they think vendors are trying to rip them off when it's really shipping companies who are charging the additional fees. This article in its current form helps to educate customers as to the true reason for current shipping rates on large light boxes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.79.247.37 (talk) 02:48, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Repetition

edit

As a reader I find that this article repeats itself many times. Dpky (talk) 02:32, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge Volumetric weight with Dimensional weight

edit

Each one says the term is "also known as" the other one and I don't see any differences in the descriptions. Unlike the previous merge proposal (Dimensional weight/Dimensioning/Dimensioners), this is for two claimed synonymous terms, not a measurement vs processes of measuring it vs devices for doing so. I chose "Dimensional weight" as the target for consistency with those others. DMacks (talk) 11:33, 12 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
