False claims about him
editIt is known that his family origin is from a small town near Athens Greece. As you can find in any search.
It is not known, and it is only a hoax that he had fought at Cyprus during the invasion of 1974(he was a well known communist, so he was de facto prohibited to participate in the Greek army).
The only "source" that claims that he supposed to be in Cyprus as a special forces fighter(?!), is only a weird religion related webpage.
Please, if you want to re-insert this text bring at least a reliable source.
In his official cv it is written that he went to the army in 1979 after his graduation from the university.
