1.- The correct name is Direccion Nacional de los Servicios de Inteligencia y Prevencion (DISIP) 2.- DISIP hasn't been replaced by the "General Intelligence Office". See: http://www.tsj.gov.ve/gaceta/gacetaoficial.asp (Gaceta Oficial No. 39231, July 30, 2009 Odalcet (talk) 04:56, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Footnote in ref

edit

I removed a long quote from the ref text. This is the removed quote: Posada Carriles and his self-exiled Cuban cohorts held top positions in the DISIP during the late 1960s and early 1970s, utilizing the Venezuela intelligence division as a platform to wage their war against the Cuban Revolution. Venezuela became home to the largest Cuban exile community outside of Miami, and the base of operations for numerous terrorist activities that resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of innocent civilians in Cuba and abroad." - As for name, Spanish wikipedia has a separate entry for the new name, someone should merge those two. Article Contradicts Its self

edit

About halfway through, the article changes drastically. It starts with "This info is completely false and written with malicious intentions in regards of DISIP participation in human rights violations." and continues through until the end. This section reads more like a talk page post than an encyclopedia article. Furthermore, all citations stop at this point. I am hesitant to just delete this section, as it seems to be one of the few parts that deals with the actual agency rather than a description of human rights violations by the agency.

I think this entire article may need to be rewritten. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.241.189.200 (talk) 03:40, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Quite right 132.241.189.200. I am tempted to remove that section also. But maybe a few banner would do best to be inserted first. Let's leave them a while and then if nothing is done that part will need re-hashing. I know nothing about the DISIP myself, but the whole part in question is sourceless and reads as user opinion indeed Marcool04 (talk) 14:55, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Opinion from a Venezuelan

edit

I do agree with the previous messages an I would like to add that there is very little information avaliable of the SEBIN, as they act as a very secret organization. On the other hand, this organization is (probably) involved with some illegal behaviour, and procedures so I really don't think we are going to get too far with this topic. But I suggest searching information at venezuelan newspapers such as: "El Universal", "El Nacional", "Ultimas Noticias", "Tal Cual". It all have their own webpage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.36.56.125 (talk) 03:36, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 3 external links on Bolivarian Intelligence Service. Please take a moment to review my edit. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
