Direct-methanol fuel cellDirect methanol fuel cell – The hyphenated version does not appear to be used in any significant frequency outside of Wikipedia and its clones, such as answers.com, if Google is any indication. I searched the Web and newspapers, but I did not find any instances of the hyphenated version, except for pages related to Wikipedia, despite checking several pages of results. I do not remember ever seeing the hyphenated version in any books or magazines, either. -- Kjkolb 04:04, 27 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Grantalkin (talk) 04:08, 22 January 2008 (UTC) I'd like to include an external link to the site of the exclusive worldwide licensor of patented Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Technology the link is [removed]Reply

Sorry for striking out your link, but those must be crooks. I work in DMFC research and I never heard of these patent trolls, so there is no reason to give them free advertisement. 193.175.53.21 (talk) 16:33, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Reaction - Clarification needed on OH "group"

edit

"Reaction" segment says talks about OH radical, then quote "Using these OH groups" lists reactions with OH- ions. whether the reaction is written with H+ or OH- makes sense depending on the pH of the solution. but what that's got to do with the formation of OH radicals? some clarification would be nice from an expert. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.21.48.174 (talk) 15:01, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Add Section on Methanol Fuel Cell Catalysts

edit

I thought it would be appropriate to include a section on the catalysts used in methanol fuel cells. They're essential part of the cells function, but there isn't that much information about them on the current page. Any thoughts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hispinstate (talkcontribs) 01:03, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

No real efficiency or power output numbers

edit

Arguably the most important aspects of a fuel cell are its energy density, its efficiency, and its power capability per unit mass or volume. If someone knows of a reliable source for this information, please do add it. The only thing I saw here was that "methanol has 15 times the energy density of li-ion batteries" - which suggests DMFCs have huge potential, but without their efficiency or power output per kg, that statement tells us little. The cell

edit

how can you say "in contrast to indirect methanol fuel cells" when your stated direct reaction is literally methanol + water = steam reforming into hydrogen. direct would be single step methanol + o2 or maybe oh-, and renaming the current indirect methanol fuel cell to double indirect methanol fuel cell, because of external steam reforming, and not internal steam reforming (h2o step in both). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goofyseeker311 (talkcontribs) 10:51, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
