I believe that many bits in this article contradict my personal experience. Blue Spider 18:44, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Could you be bit more specific? Comthought 15:08, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greetings from DisneyQuest!

Now, THAT'S commitment - to be editing articles from an arcade! :) - Brian Kendig 19:57, 15 Sep 2004 (UTC)

It's POSSIBLE to edit from DisneyQuest despite the sticky old systems they have? Nice :P Jennytablina 12:06, 8 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The system right by the entrance to the room with all the air hockey tables (the one I am on currently) is very un-sticky... even the mouse... you should try it! :P

Removed cards

edit

They didn't remove the pay cards because they wanted to, they were sued by another big game company who patented it. How do I word that? Luigi30 20:48, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Just curious - which game company, and where did you get the info? - Brian Kendig 01:43, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)

The system was developed by American Express, which was sued by an independent company. So Disney took the technology out to prevent future problems.

The only problem with this explanation: the system was still in use for ticket-redemption games until very recently. Current redemption games don't use tickets and generally accept cash directly. -- Benjamin Geiger 05:29, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

They still use the play cards at the arcade at SSR (Saratoga Springs Resort) and I'm guessing they also use them at the other small Disney resort arcades. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeepcomanche1 (talkcontribs) 22:16, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Clarification

edit

Just wanted to say that the edit made by 24.125.95.154 (since been rolled back) concerning the character in Virtual Jungle Cruise being Wayne Szalinski from the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" movie is technically true; cast members being trained at DisneyQuest are instructed that it is him, however there is no hard reference to this in the actual game portion of the attraction. --Comthought 05:33, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just wanted to say that everyone inside of Quest denies the shutdown rumor. --Comthought 13:30, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thats because the new 5 year plan has been rolled out for the building. And it is Wayne Szalinski, just not the original voice.

Chicago DisneyQuest?

edit

I thought it should be mentioned that before they built DQ in WDW, they actually had this "indoor amusement park" in Chicago. I remember going to it a number of times in 1999 and 2000. I don't know when it closed, but I supposed it must have been a "test market" to see how successful it would be. Before it was DisneyQuest, I believe it was an MTV store, and now it is something else. But I still have one of the cards for all the games that says DisneyQuest Chicago. Were they planning to open them up all over the country? --Travlr23 14:47, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Chicago location and the intent to open them up all over the place is covered in the Background section of the article. --Comthought 02:00, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
K' thx. Hopefully, they won't open a ESPN Zone there... I think that rumor started because a ESPN Zone opened near where DisneyQuest used to be in Chicago. Actually, what replaced it was a haunted-mansion type restaurant...--Travlr23 03:43, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think it's a furniture store now. The "haunted-mansion type restaurant" (which I think was a franchise of the Jekyll & Hyde Club in New York) was down the block and has, itself, since closed. The ESPN Zone is at the other end of the block. Also, the Disney Quest building in Chicago was entirely new - there may have been an MTV store there before it, but the building itself was replaced for DQ and is quite distinctive.

Age range

edit

Is this park suitable for grown ups? I will be spending a few days in Orland, and it sounds like DQ is the Disney version of Gameworks, or, like the article said, Dave and Buster restaurants, where grown ups (mid 20's) can play video games. Thanks... Quase 05:49, 10 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unless you really love video games, I wouldn't recommend it unless you have kids. Keep in mind that most of the games are non-violent (or... non-bloody would be a better way to put it) and kid-friendly. --Comthought 22:20, 10 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Canada?

edit

Can anyone backup or verify the recent edit that claims an original planned location in Canada? I have never heard this. --Comthought 20:12, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Remove closure section?

edit

Since the rumor of Quest's closure has pretty much long since been debunked, does anyone object to removing the bit talking about the rumor that links to the false insider blog? --Comthought (talk) 06:10, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually it's for real this time. Clouding on July 3rd. :( TheProdigyFan213 (talk) 23:07, 13 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Redemption area?

edit

> On the fourth floor, there was a redemption area that would cost extra ("Midway on the Moon"). Players could exchange tickets won at games of skill for various prizes.

Huh? "A redemption area that would cost extra"? Anyone know what that means? SomeAvailableName (talk) 08:15, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's fixed ... take a look and let me know what you think. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 14:35, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Franchises

edit

I seem to remember something about Disney selling DQ franchises. Were these plans cancelled?74.100.60.53 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 07:18, 2 May 2011 (UTC).Reply

Ride the comix has now closed

edit

I await a proper editor to properly correct this page, but for over a month now the "ride the comix" ride has now closed.

As someone who still works at DisneyQuest, I'll tell you why it was closed very simply:

The ride uses very similar technology as Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride. The parts for these rides simply don't exist, for the company who made these parts bankrupted many years ago. A choice was made to terminate one ride, and at the very least Aladdin has the potential to be enjoyable, while ride the comix had a 99% chance of simply not being enjoyable.

You do not have to take my word for it, but I promise you it is the truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:39FD:2CF0:BCF6:7C2A:76A8:7E91 (talk) 00:17, 25 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
