editWhat has happened with Disney Toon America? The article says that Disney Toon Australia was closed down, but doesn't say anything about the American version. Or was it simply poorly worded so as to look like the phrase only pertained to the Australian studios, but actually addressed both? --Matt T. 08:50, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

There is more on Disney closing mentioned here closing the last of the 2-D animation. Pixar and 3-d animation are now the standard for animation in the USA. One of the last Disney units called Circle Seven Productions was set to compete with PIXAR and closed after the purchase by Disney.
I can't find a link to it, but the history of the name circle 7 is the street where the studio was located. Circle 7 was the name for in-house production for owned and operated ABC television before purchase by Capital Cities Broadcasting which later sold to Walt Disney Company.
Each of the Stations have the logo of the Circle 7 including WABC-TV New York, WLS-TV Chicago, KABC-LosAngeles, and others they owned at the time. If you look at the logo of the station, it is easy to see the source of the name. All station news anchors were required to wear matching Circle 7 blazers. Later replaced with a lapel pin sometime in the 1980's.

2 or II in Movie Names
edit- I find interesting how many times the names change each direction. I know that the box from the DVD state Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure, and The Fox and the Hound 2. Yet it continues to change on this page.Kidsheaven 23:52, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- The use of Arabic or Roman numerals on a film title is done on a case by case basis and chosen primarily for aesthetic reasons. During internal production almost all titles use Arabic numbering because they cause less confusion when represented digitally. Also, many of the DTS titles that do not have numbers in their titles are referred to numerically during production because the final title may not be determined until late in the production. As far as use here is concerned, the title on the box should be considered canon, and sadly will not be consistent from title to title. Sorry. 204.128.192.3 19:38, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Merge with Walt Disney Animation Australia
editThe two studio have the same history and are explicitely the same... so could we merge them?Gdgourou 08:01, 23 October 2007 (UTC) I agree 100%.68.220.162.180 (talk) 22:49, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves
editClosing titles say those were produced by Walt Disney Television Animation, not DisneyToon Studios. Producers are Alan Zaslove and Tad Stones (both known for Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers and Aladdin (TV series)). Remove from list? Alone Coder (talk) 15:58, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp was produced by Walt Disney Television Animation too. I remove both. Alone Coder (talk) 00:31, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Dates
editThe article seems to be saying that DisneyToon Studios has been making films since 1990, despite having not been founded until 2003. I think that some of the article needs to be made clearer so that this is not the interpretation. Alphius 15:22, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
- Fixed, it operated under a different name, Disney MovieToons & Disney Video Premieres , until 2003 when transferred to the WD Animation Studios from TV Animation. --Spshu (talk) 14:36, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
editThe page for House of Cool lists Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas as part of Red Rover Studios' filmography. Should it still be listed on the DisneyToon page? Was it made by DisneyToon, or Red Rover, or both? Web wonder (talk) 03:45, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
#18 Dinosaur not a DisneyToon Studios film
editDinosaur, listed as the 18th film from DisneyToon Studios, was actually created by Walt Disney Animation Studios and is considered canon in their list of 51 full-length animated features.
The article for Dinosaur states "Dinosaur is a 2000 American computer-animated film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures on May 19, 2000, and is the 39th film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.151.150.75 (talk) 20:54, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
What about The Emperor's New Groove and Lilo & Stitch?
editThis two films do NOT belong to DisneyToon Studios, they were produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.150.246.25 (talk) 01:39, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Disney animated films produced by Nickelodeon Studios
editI'm noticing you're making a number of edits to articles reverting the name of DisneyToon Studios changes back to Walt Disney Television Animation. Also, you're adding information suggesting that released by Paramount Pictures will have a hand in the upcoming feature-length animated movie The Princess and the Frog II (produced by Nickelodeon Studios). Can you provide some reliable proof of these edits? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.147.198.171 (talk) 03:56, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Cancelled films
editCancel films are general not give there own section in a production company's article. Alvaro B., many of the sources you are using are unreliable sources in any regards. You need to discuss what you are adding as you are moving into edit warring. --Spshu (talk) 15:10, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Stitch! The Movie
editWhy is it not on the list, although it's under the category? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.68.76.47 (talk) 12:42, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- According to the IMDb, Stitch! The Movie was produced by Disney Television Animation, so I have also removed this film from Category:DisneyToon Studios animated films.--Carniolus (talk) 14:43, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- Also indicated by awn article, by indicating "Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch" is DTS production and not claiming Stitch! in showing that DTVA and DTS are both producing direct to video. Spshu (talk) 13:01, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
Sortable wikitables
editWikitables are now smart enough to recognize a date in the [Month Day, Year] format when sorting, but including a ref with the date confuses them enough that the behavior is erratic. I've moved the refs for dates to other columns. Alternately, a new column could be created for refs, but that seems like a lot of work to go through for such a trivial issue. Template:dts was (surprisingly) causing the same issue, and the templates documentation specifically cautions that its not needed in many cases. I believe its main use is for dates before 100CE, which obviously doesn't apply here, so I've removed that as well. Grayfell (talk) 20:05, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
- That explains your statement as dts was for table sorting expressly. As you indicated that the ref is interfering with sorting then rip out dts in the same explanation. However, you de-sourcing information that it is sourcing in the table ie. the release date. Although the primary use of the source verify that it is a DTS/MTS/DVP feature. Spshu (talk) 20:22, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
- It would be nice to include them directly adjacent to the dates, but since it's all sourced at the linked articles, I don't think it's strictly needed. Having the table sort falsely seems like it's more likely to cause confusion and misunderstanding than not having the source extremely convenient. If it's moved to the last column, then it would source the entire row, which is fine, but I don't think it's worth the trouble. I think that using the dts template on all the dates might also solve the problem, but again, this is such a trivial issue I'm interested in testing that. Maybe someone who's a wiz with regex or something can do that, but I'd end up doing it manually, and it's not worth it for something that might not work and is going to be a hassle to maintain. Grayfell (talk) 20:56, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
What about Valiant (2005) and The Wild (2006)?
editThese two films are not produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation due to DisneyToon Studios as Special Edition re-releases in the 2020s decade. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.64.226.32 (talk) 20:36, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
- Valiant (by Vanguard Animation) and The Wild (CORE) were not produced by DisneyToon Studios either (responding to the title). Special Edition re-releases don't change who original produced them. Spshu (talk) 21:10, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Article name should be Disneytoon Studios
editI've noticed that Disney websites have consistently referred to the studio as "Disneytoon Studios" since 2016. The article probably should be moved to a new name to match the new spelling where the "t" is lowercased. --Coolcaesar (talk) 07:13, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Given http://www.disneytoonstudios.com camel case on the article name seems inappropriate. Geraldo Perez (talk) 12:36, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support Always considered the camel case to be stylized. Spshu (talk) 18:34, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support If that's how The Walt Disney Company wants to present that division then that should be reflected in Wikipedia. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 19:09, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

Founding year
editPrior to today, I could not find any founding date for Disney MovieToons/Disney Video Premiere/Special unit except for the year of its first credited movie, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp (1990). The animation for this movie came from the Walt Disney Feature Animation, France which was founded in 1986 as Brizzi Films and was purchase by Disney in 1989. Disney Animation Australia (DAA), was also know as DisneyToon Studios Australia, but I never found anything on Disney MovieToons Australia, (full legal name was Walt Disney Television Animation (Australia) Pty. Limited) was founded in 1988. Some editor had changed the beginning year to 1988 on the DisneyToon Studios article which I changed back. Prior to my unravling of the various Disney animation production units, the Australia unit was mixed up with the main DisneyToon Studios. These are the new sources stating 1988 with the studio's closure:
- LA Times: "Disneytoon was created in 1988 as Disney Movie Toons and specialized in direct-to-video sequels to popular Disney animated films."
- Animation Magazine: "The Glendale, Calif. studio, which opened in 1988 (formerly named Disney Movie Toons), produced features such as the successful Tinkerbell movies, Planes, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning, Mulan 2 and The Lion King 1 ½."
Now are they picking up the incorrect year from the error introduced in the article or do they have information/records that confirm a 1988 founding year? Spshu (talk) 19:34, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
Dumbo II
editDumbo II was originally released as a direct-to-video 2D-animated film produced by DisneyToon Studios in June 2002, because Dumbo II was cancelled on January 31, 2002 and DisneyToon Studios was closed down on June 28, 2018, that have a deal with Walt Disney Animation Studios to created and produced the theatrical releases of upcoming traditionally-animated sequels in the future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.64.247.95 (talk) 21:20, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea
editAccording to several sources, its animation services were done in the Australian office. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.86.71.225 (talk) 17:41, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
- What are these "sources"? Being vague don't help at all as the sources must be reliable. Spshu (talk) 00:08, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
Atlantis: Milo's Return
editWhat happened to this movie? There is no longer any mention of it in the article or in the feature films table. I think it is a DisneyToon Studios movie and should be in that table, and the article itself (Atlantis: Milo's Return) mentions it as being by DisneyToon Studios. Furthermore, there are only 46 movies in the table, whereas the text at the top of the article says there are 47 movies in total, so this is probably the discrepancy. Kidburla (talk) 17:03, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
Tarzan and Jane
editWhat happened to this movie? If features three unaired episodes of The Legend Of Tarzan. This is supposed to include this: Tarzan & Jane. I think this should be included in this list. Disneytoon Studios had involvement with this film as at the time it was owned by Walt Disney Television Animated since it was released in 2002. Evan Kalani Opedal - Evope (talk | contribs) 03:31, 12 October 2019 (unsigned)
- No sourcing indicating Disney Movietoon/Disney Video Premiere. Spshu (talk) 15:04, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Film table
edit@DoctorHver:, Not sure why the film table was split between theatrical and DTV (MovieToons only so far)? The table is sortable, so if you want to see a split between the two release types (or franchises, etc.) just click on the header. Of course, I see now an issue with the headers in the sort, which can be fixed by making it a column. Spshu (talk) 15:38, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
Madeline: Lost in Paris
editI found a source that says that the DIC Entertainment produced movie Madeline: Lost in Paris was going to be released as a Disney Video Premieres product when it was first released.
Does this mean that Disney Video Premieres was just a label for Direct-to-Video produced material or something? Here is the source, by the way. [1]
Luigitehplumber (talk) 14:50, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
- No, it was primarily a label, but there was a main unit designated to produce them, video premieres, movietoons and specials division under WDTVA and renamed DisneyToon Studios when move under Disney Feature Animations. The article even indicates (source) that post transfer of DisneyToon Studios to Disney Feature Animations that the Disney TV Animation continued to produce Disney Video Premieres. Either change 47 feature films to 46 since there are only 46 movies in the table, or add Atlantis: Milo's Return as it is a Disneytoon Studios Animation. Dylancyte (talk) 13:05, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
