Notes

It seems to me that the title of this article is very strange. It should read: Dispensation (Catholic Church). The reasons are several:

• Dispensations are not just a matter of Medieval history but a regular practice of the Catholic Church today.
• It does not appear that dispensation is a term in use in other Western Churches.
• The term is in use in the entirety of the Catholic Church (including the Eastern Rite Catholic Churches) and not just in the Western Church.

In this context, it applies to many other Christian denominations, not just Catholicism. I would recommend renaming the article to something like Dispensation (Religion) or Dispensation (Christianity). [1] --Midnightcomm 04:38, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Maybe not, I see that there is Dispensationalism, however, the disambig page could be a little more clear. --04:41, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, if this article really is supposed to apply to the Churches both East and West, then it should be adjusted to accomodate the Easterners. It says that the clergy is supposed to be celibate, but this isn't always true. Easterners and even a few Westerners have married priests; deacons are clerics too and they can be married. I would fix it myself but frankly this article is just a total mess and I'm afraid I don't have the time right now to form it correctly. J.J. Bustamante 22:38, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
