The result of the proposal was support. For now, at least, the article is indeed about a specific feast day. --BDD (talk) 17:55, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dispersion of the apostlesDispersion of the Apostles – The article is about a liturgical feast (a proper noun), not about an event (common noun). The present title is misleading. Relisted. User:Esoglou's claim

edit

User:Esoglou's claim that: "the article is about the liturgical celebration, not about the actual dispersion"; quote taken from the Edit histories; seems highly bogus to me. There is of course a liturgical celebration, but it is in celebration of the actual dispersion of the apostles of course, not a celebration of itself. IMHO, this article should be about the actual dispersion of the apostles, with mention of the liturgical feast of course, but if User:Esoglou wants an article only about the liturgical feast, he should make that article: Liturgical feast of the dispersion of the apostles or somesuch. 75.14.216.161 (talk) 20:07, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am not saying what I want. I am only stating the fact of what the article is actually about. If you would be good as to add to it an account of the actual dispersion, the article would no longer be just about the liturgical celebration. Did they perhaps hold a meeting and agree to depart all together on the basis of "You go that way, and I'll go this way"? Esoglou (talk) 20:37, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
You are actively forcing the article to be about the feast instead of the actual dispersion of the apostles which the feast only commemorates, such as this edit. 75.14.216.161 (talk) 21:30, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

As far as the actual "dispersion of the apostles" which the feast only commemorates, here's a start:

Eusebius' Church History: "Meanwhile the holy apostles and disciples of our Saviour were dispersed throughout the world. Parthia, according to tradition, was allotted to Thomas as his field of labor, Scythia to Andrew, and Asia to John, who, after he had lived some time there, died at Ephesus. Peter appears to have preached in Pontus, Galatia, Bithynia, Cappadocia, and Asia to the Jews of the dispersion. And at last, having come to Rome, he was crucified head-downwards; for he had requested that he might suffer in this way. What do we need to say concerning Paul, who preached the Gospel of Christ from Jerusalem to Illyricum, and afterwards suffered martyrdom in Rome under Nero? These facts are related by Origen in the third volume of his Commentary on Genesis. " 75.14.216.161 (talk) 21:43, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I tried to link the St. Gall codex, but as it was my first attempt in major aditions, this failed. Perhaps somebody can set the correct link <https://www.e-codices.ch/en/list/one/csg/1262>, so I can see, how this is done.
