Actual number
editAccording Tanzania's gov't website, there are 123 districts. Here it says 127. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs says there are 114. Which is true?--Whhalbert 06:34, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- The number changes over time, so all of them could have been true when written. See "Districts of Tanzania" at Statoids for an explanation of some of the many changes over the past few years. Note that Statoids has not yet integrated the latest 19 new districts gazetted in March 2012. --Bejnar (talk) 15:15, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, according to the WEB-Pages of the Regions there are 150 Districts in Tanzania. It is not so easy to find the number of councils, as not all regions have a TAB Council, my "best guess" is 191 Councils. Is there somewhere an official list of districts and councils?--Friedl 11 (talk) 08:15, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
We have the article Districts of Tanzania but with every election these keep on changing. --Aristo Class (talk) 18:11, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Article titles
editOriginally most of the districts here were entitled with just the name "Foo", but as towns, wards and villages were added, this caused a disambiguation problem. Formally in Tanzania districts are known in English as "Foo District". See, for example Mbarali District is one of the seven ... . Similarly, the GEOnet Names Server (GNS) lists districts as "Foo District" in their approved form. See for example: Mbinga District (Approved) at GEOnet Names Server and Mpanda District (Approved) at GEOnet Names Server. Mostly when disambiguating the districts they were listed as "Foo District", in a few cases they were listed as "Foo (district)". Since they have District in their formal names it seems to be better to disambiguate them as "Foo District". --Bejnar (talk) 15:15, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
