Dmitry Gordon → Dmytro Hordon – Since all Ukrainian names (including of people, places and etc; e.g. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Mykolaiv, Dmytro Chyhrynskyi and etc) are now written in Ukrainian, wouldn't it make more sense to have Dmytro Hordon's name written as "Dmytro Hordon"? Or at the very least make a redirect page directing "Dmytro Hordon" to the article? I'm very well aware that the journalist does almost all of his interviews and blogs in Russian and when speaking Russian, refers to himself as "Dmitriy Gordon" (as seen countless times on his YouTube channel), but I just think this change would have helped with the consistency of this article with all the other ones.. Nursultan Malik(talk) 18:00, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. No consistency is required. The policy is WP:COMMONNAME, which asks us to use the name "that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources)". In this case, it's "Dmitry Gordon". 162 etc. (talk) 20:14, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. In this case "Dmitry Gordon" is clearly preferred and there are hardly any sources that use "Dmytro Hordon". Mellk (talk) 03:36, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. Very clear WP:COMMONNAME. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:12, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per COMMONNAME, add "Dmytro Hordon" as redirect if you want.--Ortizesp (talk) 13:04, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
Persecution
editI do not see why we need a large section (most of the article) on persecution in a foreign country and alleged assassination plot. This also may fall under WP:RUSUKR and the editor who added this section is not extended confirmed. Mellk (talk) 03:22, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
