Merge with DMA?
editI'm not exactly sure why two separate pages for DMus and for DMA. They are both considered to be essentially synonymous. Perhaps the only difference of the two names is that the former is more common in the UK and the latter in the US, but regardless they are both considered to be the same qualification. Shall we merge the two? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yankeesfan10023 (talk • contribs) 06:45, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

DMus is NOT a higher doctorate in all cases
editI hold a DMus from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. It is a standard doctoral degree, equivalent to a DMA or PhD, not a higher doctorate. See https://www.gsmd.ac.uk/study-with-guildhall/postgraduate-research
The same applies to most UK conservatoires - https://www.rcm.ac.uk/courses/researchdegrees/dmus/
Some older UK universities award higher doctorate DMus awards as honorary degrees, but these are uncommon https://www.ox.ac.uk/students/academic/higher-doctorates 194.75.17.229 (talk) 19:03, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
