What makes a magazine important?

Considering Wired magazine's assessment of Dodgem Logic, I have to wonder at the rating of this magazine as "bottom importance", below even very minor superheroes, such as "Speedy" and "Star-Spangled Kid". I've noticed similar low rankings for other underground comics, relative to their superhero counterparts. Even the classic "The Fabulous Furry Freek Brothers" is only rated "mid-importance".
