Motivation (or better still proof)
editWhy should I believe that this method will work? Understanding that would help me verify that I understand the method correctly and also help to remember it. JRSpriggs 08:39, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
I will get on it when I have time. His original paper is in the JSTOR Catalog. --Cronholm144 14:38, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Will row switching always work?
editis it possible to end up with a matrix where the entire middle column ends up as zeros, such that you cannot row switch to resolve the issue? if so, how do you continue this method in that case? do you just have to give up and go with the alternative determinant method?

I'm a newbie, but as far as I know you can also switch columns, this would be: transpose, switch rows and transpose again. I also was told that if one row or column is made up with only zeros the determinant equals zero, so this would be a fast end. --Falkartis (talk) 00:21, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
