Merge Topics Discussion

It is my opinion that the articles pertaining to Duane Chapman and his T.V. show, "Dog The Bounty Hunter" should not be merged. The articles were not created as one because they contain information relative to specific topics; Mr. Chapman's article of his life and the T.V. show's article of the intricacies of the show.

Baby Lyssa's page

Just wondering why Justin gets an article and he is not a major character in the media, yet Baby Lyssa, obviously now a qualified bail bondsman and one of the main stars of the show, doesnt have her own article? Mj2fedup (talk) 22:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

if you have information regarding anyone in this article, please make sure you have reliable links to reliable and official sources. As far as I know, there is no Jessica Cena working for the Chapmans, and if she is, she is not relevant to the article Dog the Bounty Hunter. Expand Racial Audiotape Section?

i'm not really too wikipedia savvy, but i really think the audiotape section needs expansion. dog doesn't just use the N-word several times, he is heard on the tape basically saying he doesn't want an N-word bringing down his career because he uses the N-word, and threatens to essentially disown his son if he brings home an african american girlfriend. i think the CONTENT of what was said is more important than the simple use of the dreaded "N-word". it isn't as though he just used the slur, he made his feelings on black people clear in a private conversation. obviously that's the POV way of saying it, but i think there is definitely an NPOV way of inserting into the section that dog's comments were generally derogatory towards african americans, and went far beyond "use of the N-word". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.144.38.184 (talk) 15:14, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately, Dog himself has said it is real, in press interviews and in his own book. Also I disagree that the section should be any longer as it mostly pertains to him and only to the TV show in that it explains the hiatus during Season 4.

2006 Arrest

Why was my boner reference to him being arrested get removed? It's all over MSNBC right now! I'm putting it back. Leave it alone.

Agreed. The show is about Dog the bounty hunter. Dog the bounty was arrested while bounty hunting. Seems it should be in the article.

Request for info on previous conviction and prison sentence

Can somebody please put up info on the prison sentence he served? The article simply states that he is an ex-convict. Staring?

In the staring section Justin Bihag is listed but he hasn't been a star on it since the first season, should he be removed? I agree with everyone who says a private conversation is private. People say alot of things in private that they normally wouldn't say in public and if they are going to judge Dog for doing that then they better judge every person alive. What I think is so funny is that anyone can say anything,public or private about Native American Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Polish, Hispanics, etc. and nothing happens but if someone says something bad about an African American, WATCH OUT! I am saying this as someone who is not prejudice.I would just like to see everyone be treated equally. Would Dog's show have been cancelled if he would have told his son or daughter that they better not ever date a pollack? I DON"T THINK SO! We are all equal and all say things about others that we shouldn't. Get over it!

Controversy

Why is there no mention of the whole n-word incident (I assume from the talk page, that it was here before). I don't know much about it, but I read (possibly on the A&e page) that it was his son who leaked the recordings. Regardless of who did it, it needs to be mentioned here, most pages have a controversy section (where it applies) and since this was the reason for the show being on a hiatus, it should go here. And I also made some minor edits in the 2006 arrest section, it constantly referred to them as 'Duane Dog Chapman, Leland Chapman and Tim Chapman' I didn't see the need to include their last names every time, and it should be either Duane or Dog in most cases. In some parts I simply refer to them as the trio (it was used once before, when it mentions the chapman trio captured luster) Tydamann (talk) 12:48, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

It does seem fitting that the article would have a section dedicated to the controversial recording. Although the recordings did not appear on the show and were not directly related in the way that the incident transpired, it did cause the show to be taken off the air. It seems relevant, and the section titled "Return To TV" seems quite alone without mentioning the reason for its removal. It seems reasonable that the two sections be merged, demonstrating both its removal and return to A&E. Stormwhisper (talk) 21:09, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Ummm... no article on Beth?

I find it weird that there does not seem to be an article on Beth. Clearly, she's notable. I mean, she's been a co-star on a successful TV show for six years, and yet still doesn't have an article. Heck, Baby Lyssa has an article, and she has been a much more minor character on the show. Beth has even been on Larry King several times. She's been mocked on South Park. Understand, I'm no fan of the show or her, but it seems very strange that she doesn't have an article. Anyone have enough information to create an article? This part reads more like an advert than an encyclopedia

Dog the Bounty Hunter captured an audience immediately by drawing viewers into the interaction of Chapman and his family/team, mixing street smarts, romance, arguments, teamwork, adrenaline-laced arrests, and a philosophy of hope and second chances.

Viewers are taken along as Chapman and his family/team locate and arrest people who have broken the terms of their bail agreements. Bounty hunts and arrests segue into the rides to jail, during which Chapman and his team show compassion and strongly counsel the fugitives to start over, leaving behind drugs and/or crime to become dependable members of their families and society. Rounding out most episodes are scenes featuring Dog, Beth, and their large family of children, grandchildren and friends.
