Pachebel?

edit

How the hell does this ;iiiinjhuishow any influence of the great Pachebel? Yeah they got the melody from the canon, but taudhjalju./afhjadfhhats less of an influence then simply borrowing a catchy melody. Its like saying Puff Diddy was influenced by Led Zeppelin because he took Kashmir and made Come with me just wonderin'. 139.57.206.54 01:30, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rip-off

edit

Was I the only person that noticed that this song is a complete rip-off of "Remix to Ignition" by R. Kelly? The verses have the exact same melody as the chorus of "Remix to Ignition". It annoys me so much that nobody notices this and complains about it. Akon's getting credit for a melody he stole.

Yes, I agree that the melodies/tunes sound the same, we need to know if there was any permission granted by R. Kelly for Akon to use the samples. If we find out that he didn't then I guess we can bring it up, but for now, we cannot just jump to conclusions this quickly. The93owner 21:50, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree to. But its a lot like how Eminem used "Toy Soldiers" by Martika in his song "Like Toy Soldiers". Dont think Eminem got permission from her.

I don't know about "Remix to Ignition," but how about Bob Marley's "Zimbabwe?" That is the original source of the lyric, melody and harmony of the chorus. I find it particularly odd that I can't find one single article or review that mentions the direct lift -- only blogs. This leniency did not use to exist. George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" is a classic example. Corporate interest (money) is my guess as to why mum's-the-word now-a-days on pop hits. - Steve3849 talk 04:28, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Answering my own post. I used George Harrison as an example of low tolerance for copying, but thats rediculous when one considers how note for note and lyrically as well Chuck Berry was copied all through the 60's and 70's by everybody... and some gained wealth from it... I've not heard of scrutiny over that. - Steve3849 talk 15:14, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Album Cover?

edit

Does anyone have the album cover? it should list samples, if any, used for this song. Marnifrances 01:43, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

references or accurate analysis from musicians?

edit

Can we have a reference to this sentence: "The melody is exactly the same except for an A natural theme as opposed to an A flat theme which appears on Ignition.[citation needed]" Maybe an experience musician should listen to the song and analyse it or maybe we can find a chord chart or lead sheet (piano or note sheet music) that may give us a more accurate analysis of the similarities between the songs. ignition (remix)

edit

some bits of the song sound like 'ignition' by R. Kelly —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.239.102.166 (talk) 03:32, 1 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

We've already got a topic on that (above). The93owner 23:51, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Akon did not steal ignition remix..it samples it, artists sample work everyday get over it

Gay theme?

edit

If you listen to the lyrics it sort of sounds like hes preaching to gay people and how nobody wants to see it? User:Chasesboys 9:04, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

"Zimbabwe"

edit

Thought this topic deserved its own heading so it wouldn't be overlooked. Basically rephrasing what I posted above under == Rip-off ==. Bob Marley's "Zimbabwe" is the original source of the lyric, melody and harmony of the chorus. Not a mention of this in any major media on a web search. The Marley sites do not mention Akon, nor does Akon give credit Marley. Quite odd. The underlying suggestion at first glance is that the title "Zimbabwe" is replaced with "Don't Matter." Hopefully not the association the artist intended. - Steve3849 talk 04:13, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nobody wanna see us together

edit

Anyone thinks that maybe a redirect from the alternate title would be helpful? I took me a while figure out what the actual name of the song was, I believe many people would have this problem.--Dave.haku (talk) 18:41, 31 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Don't Matter (Konvicted)Don't Matter –Unnecessary disambiguation move made yesterday. This is now disambiguated by the album the song appeared on and is not as in the guidelines set out in WP:SONGS. Richhoncho (talk) 20:22, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
