editDoes anyone on here have the Bosco History book?
--cymra37
Consulted 1962 yearbook. College was created before Vietnam. --Cymra37 01:14, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Management
editThe management program is an appropriate addition solely because of its history. --evrik 15:55, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
- management wtf? how sure are u that bosco had a management program
did u even go there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.4.198.35 (talk • contribs) (03:47, 2 November 2006)
- Very sure. --evrik 14:03, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
The Management program was created in the mid-1970s. The 1976 Yearbook was the first to present students under the heading Management. I graduated Electronics 1977. Several of my friends were in that first Management class. I don't know how long it continued. Shashdlohi (talk) 00:38, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Page move
editUser talk:Scorpion prinz just made a really clumsy page move. I'm going to see if I can fix it. --evrik 09:56, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- There is some reason to change the name of this article to reflect that it is not the only DBTI. I say that Don Bosco Technical Institute should become a redirect to Bosco (disambiguation). What should the name of this article become? --evrik 14:52, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Anonymous screed
editControversy
Beginning with the abolishment of the 5th year, there was much skeptism as to why, all of sudden it was being taken away. It was discovered that the school was planning on shutting it down, since 2000. In 2004 when they announced that it was going to cease in 2006, it was due to mainly "lack of funding" primarily. Many were outraged at the fact that there was something that could have done about it.
Many seniors and juniors were promised, though, the school sought no such remorse. Also, beginning in 2006, they introduced a uniform program and announced that the 07'-08' school year would include a mandatory uniform system. This would make the infamous dress code that so many admired abolished, without the opinion or regard to any of the students. Those who had barely enought to attend, would face extreme expenses.
The subject most are divided on (with the most attention) is the possibility of the school going co-ed, it appears that many don't really mind. Though, those who believe it would ultimately ruin what the school stands for, how it contradicts St.John Bosco's ideals, the brotherhood, and why the school was started.
The institution would have to go through harsh construction and re-arrangement, including more money spent on academic buildings, abolisment/replacemnt of certain original technologies, and even athletic facilites. The question that many of the students who oppose these new policies, say, "How far are we willing to go, how many values and traditons are we willing to forget about in an instant, just for publicity and money". Though, the school's administration still yet has to respong to many of the activism on campus.
Unsourced, full of POV. --evrik 14:05, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Jay Hernandez
editSince people refuse to actually discuss the matter of whether or not actor Jay Hernandez is an alumn of Bosco Tech rather Montebello High School, I've included definitive proof that he was a student there because I also went to school with him. It's amazing how people think Yahoo movies is 100% accurate. The following are links of the yearbook during his Junior year. I find it very frustrating that I even had to do this.
- Jay Hernandez under the name Javier M. Hernandez. [1]
- The introduction of the Junior class of the 1994-95 DBTI yearbook if anyone doubts where this page was taken from. Notice the mention of "Bosco Tech" [2]
He and Michael Garciaparra are the only ones on the notable alumni list that can be traced back to Bosco Tech. So if anyone keeps removing him it will be vandalism. --† Ðy§ep§ion † Speak your mind 21:41, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Management
editManagement? Sources? I don't think so, I assume everybody agrees on the idea of taking off Management. Such a disputable matter (in which it cannot be proved) shall not go on the DBTI Wikipedia page.

- I was unable to find a way to remove the "Management" , the experinced Wikipedian outsmarted me. I do appreciate you not putting "Management" back on the list. I apologize for the enite removal of the -correct- list of technologies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.4.194.203 (talk • contribs) 02:32, 16 December 2006
- In matters of dispute, you usually put a citation needed tag. A citation tag lets any reader of the article to read into it with caution. The constant removal of the Management section is highly disruptive. If you want to completely remove it, discuss it here on the talk page and come up with a consensus. There is no ownership of this article or any other article on Wikipedia. --† Ðy§ep§ion † Speak your mind 00:53, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- So what was the point of removing the entire tech program list? --† Ðy§ep§ion † Speak your mind 05:42, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Cleanup. Major copyright violations. Numerous copy and paste edits
editProviding a link merely supports what is being said in the article. It is not meant to be a verbatim source (i.e. basically copying and pasting information from the website to a Wikipedia article.) I've already removed the New Technology info which was lifted word for word from a brochure. Even the sports sections are copy and paste. The DBTI website is merely a source for the article. However, it seems the entire DBTI website is being tranferred to Wikipedia which not only violates Wikipedia's copyright policies but also Wikipedia's neutral point of view. I'm very very surprised this wasn't dealt with before. ----Ðysepsion † Speak your mind 05:42, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Copyright
editMy understanding is that the alma mater would be under copyright and so can not be placed in the article. RJFJR (talk) 02:45, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
