Incomplete list of Donald Keith's Time Machine stories
editAccording to 2003 Usenet discussion archived by Google at <[1]> and <[2]>, there were a number of "Time Machine" stories published under the byline "Donald Keith" and also "Keith Monroe" in Boy's Life magazine.
An incomplete list:
- DK "Mutiny in the Time Machine" Dec 1962 to Mar 1963 (4-part serial)
- DK "The Time Machine Hunts a Treasure" Apr 1967 to Jun 1967 (3-part serial)
- DK "The Dog from the Time Machine" Dec 1968
- DK "The Time Machine and the Generation Gap" Sep 1970
- DK "The King and the Time Machine" Aug 1971
- DK "The Time Machine Cleans Up" Feb 1973
- KM "The Time Machine Twins the Jamboree" Aug 1973
- DK "Santa Claus and the Time Machine" Dec 1973
- KM "The Time Machine Fights Earthquakes" Nov 1974
- KM "The Time Machine Saves a Patriot" Apr 1975
I'm not skilled at crafting Wikipedia articles but maybe someone else could format these neatly, dig up page numbers, etc.
Another story by Donald Keith, "Butterfly 9," was published in the January 1957 issue of Galaxy.
In 1952 Keith Monroe published a humorous book called Be Prepared about his experiences as a Boy Scout leader, under the pseudonym Rice E. Cochran. A review appeared in Time: <[3]>. Beamjockey (talk) 00:32, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Google Books has begun to offer scanned issues of Boys' Life. I have learned of a number of Time Machine stories that were not on my previous list:
- DK "The Day We Explored the Future" Dec 1959 p. 18
- DK "The Time Machine Files Backwards" Feb 1960 p. 14
- DK "Our Time Machine at the Jamboree" Jul 1960 p 10
- DK "The Time Machine Slips a Cog" Feb 1962 p 12
- DK "The Time Machine Cracks a Safe" Jun 1964 p 25
- DK "Time Machine to the Rescue" Oct 1964 p 32
- DK "The Time Machine Gets Stuck" Feb 1965 to Apr 1965 (3-part serial)
- KM "Target Timbuktu" Sep 1988
- KM "Why We Kidnapped Our Scoutmaster" Feb 1989
Also, Keith Monroe's book Be Prepared was adapted into the film Mister Scoutmaster in 1953. Beamjockey (talk) 18:21, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Neat! Here's a direct link to "The Time Machine Flies Backwards": [4] Thanks for the research! I'll have to look into incorporating some of this info into the article later. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 18:29, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
