Proposed page move
editI'm not sure if this specific topic requires an entire and somewhat thorough article. The issue, while important, could be a stub or simply a few sentence dispersed to other pages such Assassination of Qasem Soleimani and Foreign policy of the Donald Trump administration. Donald Trump constantly made absurd threats during his campaign/Presidency, including to commit war crime-seeing as none were ever followed through on including in this instance-in fact this threat was made on Saturday and retracted by Tuesday, the need for an entire article seems to go beyond the notability scope of wiki standards. In the alternative, proposed title change
editRegardless of this page's status, the threat was made by Trump and not the United States necessarily. While normally I would consider it semantics to distinguish the statements of the US Presidents from that of the US (in contexts such as here), Trump and this statement specifically are exceptions. It seems pretty clear Trump was just foaming off at the mouth and the Pentagon immediately distance itself with as already mentioned, Trump quickly doing the same. In short, Trump desired to make an undoubtedly threat to use extreme force on behalf of the US, as is standard for the President to do, however he had not settled on a threat acceptable to the United States nor seriously contemplated-a situation the page title should reflect this in my opinion.
