Upcoming Revisions

edit

I just wanted to make people aware of some revisions that I will soon make to support the academic quality already displayed on this page. The following is a list of changes that I propose:

  • Reformatting- The reformatting that I propose would split the page up into seven different sections to hopefully create an easier flow and understanding on the page. These sections would be "Description," "Technique," "Influences," "Plant Symbolism," and "Scholarly Theories," followed by notes and references.
  • Additions- After each section is a description of additions I will make that are not already found on the page. More citation will be added as well as more scholarly interpretation of the work.

Sections

  • Description- One addition to this section is a description of the frame of the painting.
  • Technique- This section will discuss his painterly style, including his novel use of color and pigment.
  • Influences- A major addition to this section is the influences of the Laocoön and the similarities it shares with the Doni Tondo.
  • Plant Symbolism- The lengthy discussion of the symbolism of the depicted plants has been given its own section.
  • Scholarly Theories- This section incorporates the interpretations into a single section. It gives the summaries of four major theories by the scholars Paul Barolsky, Mirella D'Ancona, Andrée Hayum, and Roberta Olsen.
