Talk:Donkey Kong Barrel Blast
Donkey Kong Wii
editWhy does Donkey Kong Wii redirect here, Nintendo has confirmed that a platformer Donkey Kong game is in the works for the Wii, this is not it. 58.165.215.242 08:10, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
If I knew how, I'd disassociate it but I'm not sure how. it's pretty annoying though. This game already has a name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Madhatter9max (talk • contribs) 21:42, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I figured it out and redirected DK wii to the DK series page listing the DK wii games that will ever come out Madhatter9max (talk) 22:00, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Krumple
editThe blue kremling looks slightly similar, but there's no proof that it actually is Krumple. A close look even reveals that it looks very different. As for now, it should be listed as an unknown Kremling.
According to dkwiki Krumple is a comfirmed a character. --Coconutfred73 04:31, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Well that is far from a credible source. Fearnavigatr 01:21, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Title
editIt was never reported that the title was changed in the US to "Barrel Jet Race", that title was taken from a list on the Japanese site (as mentioned in the article "taru" translates to "barrel", so that's obviously what would appear on that page when run through a translator). SNS 02:59, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- The name is going to change sooner or later with the bongos being removed so that is the closest we have to a Europe/US name at the moment. 60.229.18.250 02:23, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think it should be noted that it is unknown if the title has changed for it's wii release and it is unknown if it will still use the bongos now that it is on the wii. Guess who i am 06:10, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- Apparently the name has changed from Bongo to Kongo - it says so on this list here. Cipher (Yell) 19:38, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Contradiction?
editThe first paragraph says that it is unknown as to whether it will use the DK Bongos, but in the Gameplay section, it describes using the Bongos to play.

speculated levels
editI think that part should be changed because of how inarticulate it is. Who's speculating, and why? People just thought "hey, maybe there's a volcano level" or what? Did it show pictures of these leves? If so, then isn't it technically not speculation, but fact? We should fix that up. 199.126.137.209
Wiimote Add-on
editAnyone else think the Wiimote will get a bongo type add-on? ChunkyKong12345 22:10, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- You can use the GCN controller to play Wii games, so I'd imagine the same GCN bongos would work, as well. --DarkAdonis255 16:25, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- The GameCube version of this game has been cancelled, so this game will only be available for the Wii. --PJ Pete
Simpson's..?
editI'm assuming Bart, Lisa, Marge and Homer are vandalism, any sources? 70.19.52.242 15:13, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
Indeed vandalisim. Nintendo probably doesn't know who the Simpsons are.
Japanese Wiki
editI'll assume no one's bothered to even look at the Japanese Wiki page? There's quite a few characters listed that aren't here. Namely, Cranky Kong, Lanky Kong, Chunky Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr. There's also a list for animal friends: Rambi, Squawks, and Yoshi. Naturally I don't know if the information is true, but... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.170.173.114 (talk) 00:33, 2 March 2007 (UTC).
Renamed
editThe game has been renamed Donkey Jet according to ToTheGame. I've changed this, seeing as how ToTheGame is a reliable source. Cipher (Talk to the hand) 16:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC) Oh, and RewiredMind and SPOnG also confirm it. 16:06, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
IGN has it as DK Jet or Donkey Kong Jet, which is a far more likely possibility. Watkinzez 13:34, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
I've seen at least three variations on the new name: Donkey Jet, Donkey Kong Jet and DK Jet. Is there a source from Nintendo that gives the correct one? Misterkillboy 07:22, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- What makes ToTheGame reliable? IGN, GameSpot and Nintendo World Report (all more reliavle) have it as DK Bongo Bash. Nintendo has not announced any name change either. TJ Spyke 06:21, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- In fact, Nintendo of Europe have - it's on their press site. C&VG also have the story - [1] - as do the UK Official Nintendo Magazine - [2] - though the later uses 'Donkey Jet' and 'DK: Jet' interchangeably. Tim (Xevious) 12:01, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- CVG uses both. All the second source says is that the European name could be Donkey Jet. TJ Spyke 21:36, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- How is "Donkey Jet (previously known as DK Bongo Blast)" (from CVG) using both? More and more articles are appearing regarding the press release put up by Nintendo - see [3], [4], [5], [6]. Unfortunately you can't verify the press release for yourself, since Nintendo's press site requires a login. But there is certainly ample verifiable evidence now to say that the game's name has changed - and not just in Europe. Tim (Xevious) 12:37, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, DK Bongo Blast was the codename for Donkey Jet for the versions outside Japan. I'm pretty sure it should have been called Donkey Kong Jet, even though most games include "Kong" in the title, where the exclusion of "Kong" would not be enough, usually. --PJ Pete
- IGN and GameSpot, two of the biggest, most reliable news sites, still have it listed as "DK Bongo Blast" (which, by the way, was not a codename, but the actual title of the game when it was still on GameCube). The title itself is unlikely, as Donkey Kong is almost never referred to simply as "Donkey" outside of Japan. DK Jet seems most likely, but I've also seen Donkey Kong Jet used just as much, so I think the article should be moved back to "DK Bongo Blast" until we get more official confirmation. Chiphead 16:18, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Release date
editI'm pretty sure that there will be an expected release date for North America, Europe, and Australia. --PJ Pete
The characters
editFor the characters, it should be mentioned in this article about what their acceleration, top speed, and handling are. --PJ Pete
Regarding Donkey Kong Racing
editExcept for the link to the article in question, I have removed all references to Donkey Kong Racing. Since this game is being developed by Paon and not Rare, we have to assume it's a coincidence...unless of course there is proof that Paon was influenced by the cancelled game (otherwise it's just speculation). I will also be checking the Donkey Kong Racing article for speculative and/or POV statements. Brittany Ka 13:21, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I'm sure this can be because Nintendo owns the rights to the Donkey Kong characters. --PJ Pete
That has nothing to do with anything. I know Nintendo owns the DK characters; it was their creation in the first place. The fact is, we have to assume that Paon's game is a totally different project, that has nothing to do with Rare's planned game. Brittany Ka 21:52, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
I get the feeling DK racing won't happen. this is them attempting to make a DK racing game without breaking the legal terms. we can say that it shows a similarity and may be their only way of fulfilling their idea, but still say that they are seperate projects nonetheless created by other people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Madhatter9max (talk • contribs) 21:45, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Other confirmed characters on Japanese Wiki
editIt said here on Japanese Wikipedia about Candy Kong appearing in the game[7]. She could possible only appear as a cameo if she appeared in this game. --PJ Pete
I'm kind of wondering if Chunky Kong got screwed over in this. I mean, come on. Lanky and Tiny are in this. ChunkyKong12345 00:58, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Saying "messed" is more positive than "screwed". --PJ Pete
- Messed over? What? ChunkyKong12345 13:00, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Saying "screwed" may often refer to sex, although saying "messed" is more positive and more reverent to say. --PJ Pete
- People know what you mean when you say 'screwed up' or 'screwed over'. And more reverent? What are you, the Pope? ChunkyKong12345 20:39, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sure this is all relevant to Donkey Jet, of course. If you're gonna whine about whether to used "messed up" or "screwed over", well, that's what user talk pages are for. Cipher (Talk to the hand) 21:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry. It spiraled out of control after Pete's second post. ChunkyKong12345 00:26, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, what's an operation character? --PJ Pete
Game cover
editPlease do not upload the cover to the Japanese version, PAL version, or any other, but only upload the cover of the NTSC version of this game if it is available, and put it in the CVG template. --PJ Pete
- I do not understand, why only NTSC? Fearnavigatr 12:49, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Because this is the English language Wikipedia. --PJ Pete
- Jeez, so why would that exclude PAL? As you said, this is English language Wikipedia, not American Wikipedia. I see the Japanese boxart was just added. Let it remain until there's an English language boxart available. Fearnavigatr 10:46, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- I can't wait for the NTSC boxart to be available here. --PJ Pete

Character roster revealed
edithttp://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/rdkj/chara/index.html
Includes a character roster. Two Kongs and two Kremlings are grayed out, but it's fairly obvious that one of the Kremlings is K. Rool and one of the Kongs is Cranky, IMHO. (The other grayed-out Kong might be Wrinkly's ghost.) Most of the Kremlings are totally unfamiliar, but there are no Kongs that aren't already on the list on our page. --HeroicJay, ever too lazy to log in from his at-work computer
Wrinkly isn't a ghost in this one. She has actual skin. Just look at her little mini head on the map in some screens. And yes one is Cranky. So it's not just your humble opinion. One of the Kremlings is Kopter. One is Krusha I think. The kids are Kip and Kass. I don't think any of the others are from games besides K.Rool, Kopter and Krusha... Angry Sun 01:49, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm attempting to translate the Kremlings' names with a translation sheet. It looks like the female Kremling with the same stats as Tiny might be Kalypso (that's heavily localized; it came out more as "Karipuso".) The male with the same stats as Funky is Kurajji... your Krusha guess, perhaps, though that wouldn't be my first guess looking at him. The others are all pretty much what you'd expect. I'm not saying these belong in the article; just trying to work them out. --HeroicJay 08:13, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, and which picture shows Wrinkly in-game? I can't find her. --HeroicJay 08:58, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
She is very hard to spot.
I think I can find you an image of her tiny map head. http://www.dkvine.com/news/news_files/dk_jet/wrinkly_kong.jpg
Maybe she is a ghost...I don't know it's so hard to tell. Angry Sun 00:44, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Changed the character section names to Kongs and Kremlings
editUnfortunatley there's some confusion about where they stand. --Coconutfred73 21:25, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like nothing more than a misunderstanding regarding that confusion, but it's probably better that they be split up as "Kongs" and "Kremlings" anyway. More relevant, and we don't strictly speaking know that barrel-Kremling is a newbie. --Work computer of HeroicJay 22:38, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
dk jet
editMy only concern is that Nintendo (to my knowledge anyway) never officially gave it the name DK Jet for the NA market, but the game press simply adapted the JPN name for their articles. Tehw1k1 22:30, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- That happens all the time. Endless Ocean, for example, was known by its Japanese name "Forever Blue" until the American release. I just don't see why you should delete perfectly good information just because it does not pertain to something current. --Zooba 10:47, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Someone else has erased it entirely, and I agree with them. Its rather esoteric info, and besides the game was known as Bongo Bash when it was a GCN title. How many alternate names do you need, really. Tehw1k1 06:02, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Logo or Boxart?
editI found the American Logo for Barrel Blast. Should I post it or leave the JP boxart? --Coconutfred73 23:19, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Since this is the American version of the page, I would put the American logo in there, but that's just me.--CrazyOmega (talk) 14:50, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Coke?
editSomeone put "Coke" in the item list, and it points to an image of the game with a purple parrot character? Is that the character's name, or is this some kind of joke? -- VederJuda 12:32, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes. That is the name of the Purple Parrot. --Coconutfred73 14:46, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Since it's a new character, I think an added explanation on the main page is needed; I saw that and thought it was vandalism. -- VederJuda 15:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Are the Bongos Still Compatible?
editDo the Bongo's still work on this game? 69.212.49.193 22:30, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Everything I've heard says no. -- VederJuda 01:27, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Anyone tried?--24.236.155.208 22:30, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- No, the Bongos do not work with the game.--Soniccuz —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.138.213.87 (talk) 05:02, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Not enough about Super Smash Bros Brawl
editI noticed you mentioned the trophies in SSBB about DK barrel blast, but nothing is said about Diddy Kong Using the barrel jetpack as his recovery jump (Up B) AND his final smash. Can someone add something about this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by CrazyOmega (talk • contribs) 13:34, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Like the majority of Diddy's moves in Smash his recovery comes more from his Barrel Jetpack in DK64 then from this game.Soniccuz (talk) 05:29, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Japanese Gamecube release?
editThe article claims that the game did come out for Gamecube in Japan, but there's no source, and no elaboration. I noticed that the Japanese version of the page shows the game as only being released for the Wii. This is bunk, right?Poorliljeffy (talk) 06:20, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
"Worst game of 2007"
