Synopsis

I've removed the sypnosis section because it only documented a small portion of the film, and was therefore fairly useless. If someone is prepared to improve it, then please add it back. Oli Filth(talk|contribs) 00:49, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Quality improvement project

I'm going to embark on a quality improvement project for this article. Current stage = ongoing research. Next stage = improvement of referencing and cited sources. Suggestions for secondary sources through posts here to the talk page would be most appreciated. :) Cheers, — Cirt (talk) 18:42, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Removed "user approval rating"

I've removed the "user approval rating" addition to the Rotten Tomatoes info. That is unencyclopedic. Please don't add it back. Thanks, — Cirt (talk) 23:48, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Update on quality improvement project

Update on quality improvement project:

Still in research and adding of references stages, there's ample secondary source material to expand the Reception section, but trying to still find some more info for Production section. — Cirt (talk) 04:28, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Material added by Octo900

Placing here until properly formatted and checked for compliance with WP:RS:

Elsewhere in the British press The Times wrote "Donkey's punch is a notable achievement in all departments, handled superbly by its first-time director and largely unknown cast, with a tight, frighteningly plausible script… Donkey Punch has a respect for formula but, more importantly, a commitment to doing things differently, and properly.A scary, truly edgy film. ****"[1], writing in the Daily Mail Baz Bamigboye said "It's a violent, cracking shocker. In fact, I was so stunned by several scenes that I sat frozen in my seat… " [2] while Jason Solomons wrote in the Mail on Sunday “A stylish mix of Ibiza Uncovered, Lord of the Flies and Dead Calm… I liked Blackburn’s energy and tension and was taken by the ensemble performances – the film has an eye on cult audiences and late night thrills, all of which it delivers with unsavory relish.”[3]

Stephen Holden's review in the New York Times said “There is no transcendent agent of evil; the enemy is within… the movie remains above the typical splatter ’n’ scream fest. These careless hedonists are convincing, and the ensemble acting feels believable.” [4]

Writing in the NY Press, Eric Kohn said "SUCH A UNIQUE THRILL. Director Blackburn develops the scenario with remarkably shrewd finesse and builds to a satisfying spectacle." [5], The Village Voice called it “A Knife in the Water for the era of Ugly Briton, package tour imperialism.” [6] and Aintitcool's Harry Knowles said “Damn I fucking loved it…”[7]

I'll add back once check and formatting is done,

Quality improvement project update

So thanks to Octo900 (talk · contribs) followed by some citation formatting, the article's Reception section has since been expanded a bit more.

Still in process of additional research for Production section material.

Total Film

PaintedCarpet correctly tagged [1] dead link for Total Film at http://www.totalfilm.com/trailers/donkey-punch-exclusive-interview-with-oliver-blackburn.

I'd very much like ideally to continue to use the source, if at all possible, if we could find an archived version of it.

Cirt (talk) 02:22, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

I tried to fix the link this morning, but the archive page I found is apparently not from an approved archive URL. Hopefully someone else will have better luck. PaintedCarpet (talk) 15:15, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Okay, thank you, let me know if you have any other ideas. — Cirt (talk) 18:52, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
