Granted, the NAACP guy was an idiot. But compare Limbaugh's comment, and remember he was hired to give his opinions, to a panel of black basketball analysts on a major sports show several years before Rush's stint who seriously discussed and agreed with the proposition that Larry Bird wasn't all that great a player, he was just good but got a lot of publicity because he's white. Remember the hue and cry raised in the media over that one? No? Because there wasn't one. Those guys got a pass because they're black and Rush was vilified because he's white. Biased?

I read this and felt that it was really biased agaisnt McNabb and the Eagles, I don't know what you guys think.

Black-On-Black Crime

I think that the section on McNabb's comments is somewhat biased against him. Check it out:

"Given McNabb's earlier reaction to Mondesire's comments (bringing his race into any discussion of his football skills meant "there's going to be a problem"), his reaction to Owens' comments becomes almost farcical. Owens didn't say Favre was a better quarterback because he's white, he simply said he was a better quarterback in some ways. Race was prima facie immaterial."

This is pure opinion. I don't want to attack anyone who holds this opinion; they may have a point. If this is going to be included at all it should carry a disclaimer that it is only speculation. Was the person who said that in the locker room with T.O.? If not, they have no right to call this opinion the truth. A veiled racial threat is entirely possible, and in any case T.O.'s comments were very disloyal to the Eagles and his fellow players. Siding with T.O. and presenting it as fact is slandering the name of a good man and distorting the information on this site. Whenever I want to find out about something, I go here, and I don't want to see slander and speculation.

I think Terrell Owens is an outstanding talent on the field, detest him for his foolishness and silly antics, and support him in this particular brouhaha, as far as defensibility against charges of "black-on-black crime" go. I think Donovan McNabb is also an outstanding talent on the field and a good man off it, a better man than Owens by far. That said, in this matter McNabb was as wrong as two left shoes, and there's no other way for any objective observer to see it.

No, I wasn't in the locker room, but Owens' words were quoted in numerous places and have been consistently the same in all of them. He did not inject race into the matter, McNabb did. Yes, Owens was disloyal to his team and teammate, but that doesn't give any reason to speculate on what he might have meant versus what he was quoted as saying. Your statement "A veiled racial threat is entirely possible..." is opinion based on what Owens might have meant. While my contribution is opinion too, it is based on the published facts and is offered to give balance to the story, since there is no mention of a reply from Owens on the matter.

Try this on for size: How would it go over if someone, anyone, compared Ben Roethlisberger to Michael Vick and Ben said, "I don't want to be compared to any black quarterback."? Ben would be vilified by the press and public, and rightly so. McNabb should've been, too.

There really needs to be a piece about his racist comments on HBO. He alienated a lot of people when he played the race card.

No Picture?

Are you serious? Someone should put a good picture up because Donovan isn't just another player. He's a franchise QB, 5 time Pro Bowler, and possible future Hall of Fame inductee. Put a picture up for God's sake!

WTF?

Somehow I must have missed this watching every game of his over the last several years. I know that he's done a goofy dance (like a bad Michael Jackson impersonation) on occasion after a TD) but why this would be important enough to mention, I have no idea.

Childhood

I think more should be written more McNabb's Childhood. He suffered through a lot of racism then (which would explain his "black-on-black crime" statement). I remember seeing on Fox Sports Net Behind the Glory that his house in chicago was vandalized by racists.

Some idiot vandalised it, stating (amongst other things) that McNabb had a penis as a permanant fixture in his anus. What a moron... I deleted it. SexyIrishLeprechaun (talk) 20:48, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Clean Up

Is there a reason why the previous editor of this page forgot to put in the 2005 Season? Although, it's highly irregular to add a section for every season, one should at least add a 2005 section for consistency. There are also bits and portions of this article which are written very poorly, ex 1999, 2000 and 2004. It looks as if someone just ripped the text from the old NFL style bios.

Also, the article lacks proper citations. Only two? Dig Deeper --ShadowJester07 23:39, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

This entire article is extremely poorly structured. It basically reads as a year-by-year textual summary of statistics. It's as if it was written by an automated script extracting material from statistical tables. I would recommend a total overhaul.

I fixed the 2005 season deal. It's not very detailed though. Actually, not very detailed at all!

• I'm inclined to agree somewhat, though an encyclopedia is not a "best seller" and it shouldn't be written to drag in readers with great story-telling. I might mention something about the 2004 season though. The now infamous "4th & 26" play against Green Bay in the playoffs. Were it not for Coach Sherman of the Packers deciding NOT to run on 4th and a half yard after Ahman Green literally OWNING the running game and the Eagles sucking wind through straws on the field, (several tossed their cookies during that drive), there never would have been a "4th & 26" by McNabb and no Eagles in the Super Bowl. It was pretty much consensus that had the Packers won that game they would have walked over the Carolina Panthers and appeared in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots - which has all sorts of historical connotations to it and could have changed the New England Patriots perception a great deal. The Packers matched up particularly well against them and likely would have won a Super Bowl against New England for a 2nd time - or so the pundits say. Anyway, that makes that "4th & 26" play a notable historical footnote. (Just my 2 cents worth.) i4 11:17, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Location

McNabb doesn't live in Arizona. He and his wife reside in Voorhees, New Jersey, and have for quite some time now. We run into him at the grocery store in the area constantly, and his wife gave birth to their daughter at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. Unless they flew in from Arizona for her to give birth, I think that's pretty reliable. And they live here year-round, not only during football season. 12.104.41.50 20:54, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
