Merger proposal

edit

I propose that Doublebugg be merged into Double bugg. They are duplicates of the same compound noun using the closed form and open form, respectively. The closed form is mainly used for compounds that have been established in the language for a long time.[1] This dance arose in Sweeden during the 80s, but even today it is not well known outside the Nordic countries, as far as I know. I was unable to find this compound word in any of the online authoritative English dictionaries Oxford English Dictionary, Cambridge Dictionary, Webster's Dictionary, nor in Encyclopædia Britannica, and I conclude that this term is not well established in the English language. Most of the very few English descriptions I can find seem to cite WP as their source, except the Swedish Dancesport Federation that use Double bugg in their description and citing WRRC.[2]

Apparently, WRRC no longer use this name, and now instead use the new name Trio Swing Show that better describes the concept of a three-dancers-formation based on several other swing dances in addition to Bugg.[3] This new name seems not yet very widespread.

I therefore think that WP should use the open form of the compound, Double bugg. The main section of the Doublebugg article can easily be appended to the Double bugg article, and the rest should be easy to merge. Moving the merged text to a new Trio Swing Show article is maybe the next step to consider, but I think such a move is a separate issue that can wait until after the merger.
