In the mid 1980s, the massive currrent account deficits were related to massive current deficits were related to massive US government budget deficits. In more recent times, these twins seem to be less closely related. As the US budget deficit fell into surplus in the late 1990s, the current account deficit continued to grow. (Husted & Melvin)

Fully agree - there should only be one page. "Twin deficits" is a better way to refer to the concept in English, but obviously we should keep the links to foreign language versions of the page. Can anyone volunteer to delete this page (which is slightly worse than the other one), update the links, and then we can improve the "Twin deficits" page by using some of the wording from the history of this deleted page?Anderchr (talk) 23:20, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
