editThis article's description of the overall goal of downstream processing and of each step in the RIPP process are very short and incomplete. A more detailed examination of what the goals of each step are should be included, and the article should also have an easier to follow outline structure. Also, there are no links to quite a few of the specific methods cited and there is only one reference. Jhsuosu 03:56, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
This is a good article on the overall concepts and ideas in downstream processing. There are a lot of links available to go into a little more detail on the different aspects of dowsnstream processing, such as chromatography and crytallization. However, because bioseparations is such an vital aspect in the pharmaceutical industry, there should be more detailed articles on different procedures of purification. More resources should be researched and referenced. emk39 2:11, 14 November 2006
Regina's Comment
editAlthough this article does overview the basics of downstream processing, I think that it would be great if it went into greater detail. There are so many methods used in downstream processing which aren't even alluded to. They deserve to either be discussed within the article or a link should be provided so that people can better understand the things that make up downstream processing.

editThis article does a nice job summarizing downstream processing very generally. It sticks to the basics a little too much though, not going into any of the important details of specific types of processing or separations that would be valuable here. Also, there aren't enough strong links in the article that allow the reader to diverge into more specific processes like protein purfication or centrifugation (the link to this leads to a paragraph on centrifugation). More details needs to be added almost everywhere in this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PShoor (talk • contribs) 18:16, November 16, 2006

editThe article is a concise breakdown of the process, but more detail could be added about the individual procedures. For example, information about what equipment is used and when certain methods apply over others. Also pros and cons compared to other methods would be a useful paragraph. If a person was researching downstream processing, this article is a bit too elementary to be of great help in understanding the concept. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Snicker291 (talk • contribs) 20:21, November 16, 2006

editOverall this article has an effective structure. It has a good, easy to understand introduction, which demonstrates the usefulness of downstream processing, and a straightforward body, which begins to describe how downstream processing is done. It just needs expansion in each of the four stages. It can also use more links to the processes mentioned and perhaps more examples. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wwc26 (talk • contribs) 16:52, November 17, 2006

editThis article gives general information on downstream processing and links to some of the important techniques used in bioseparation. Giving examples to products manufactured by using downstream processing methods would be useful to make it concrete. Also, would be valuable to add some information on equipments used in downstream processing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GBoran (talk • contribs) 18:48, November 20, 2006
