Drake leak

edit

Should I add drake leak to the controversies tab Zosoyu (talk) 19:35, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

being completely honest, I really don’t think so. Hasn’t been verified. Just allegations. Bizarre90 (talk) 02:35, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
The leaked video? Yes, I think it should be included. It ties to the feud at the very least 24.246.150.107 (talk) 05:08, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Despite me not being an Extended-confirmed user, I have been aware of it since its release, but I don't think there's enough reliable sources to include it in the article. Not only that, but it's possibly not notable enough. Sorry fellas, but if you want to talk about it, refer to the Reference desk to get some feedback. I would like to request edits to other names Drake goes by, as nobody calls him "6 God", instead they call him "BBL Drizzy" now, based of a recent Metro Booming song. So please replace "6 God" with "BBL Drizzy". Thanks. 192.24.234.238 (talk) 03:44, 2 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Errors in Early life section

Early Life

edit

Drake was raised in two neighbourhoods. He lived on Weston Road in Toronto's working-class west end until grade six and attended Weston Memorial Junior Public School until grade four, playing minor hockey with the Weston Red Wings. Drake was a promising right winger, reaching the Upper Canada College hockey camp, but left at the behest of his mother following a vicious cross-check to his neck during a game by an opposing player.

1) neighborhoods misspelled

2) He played hockey for the Weston Red Wings but the following sentence says "Drake was a promising right winger" Central16 (talk) 20:25, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Error in Personal Life>Family and Relationships section

edit

In the diss track "Meet the Grahams", Kendrick Lamar stated that Drake has another daughter that he had not spoken about. However, this has not been confirmed and was denied by Drake immediately after the diss was released

1. 'Another daughter' implies Drake already has a daughter, which he does not, at least not confirmed previously in article. Change to 'a daughter' Panmo (talk) 10:27, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

could be added: Drake's claim at age 14 (2nd source age 16-17)father's cellmate was teaching him to rap

Drake: "How I got into rapping was, my dad was in jail for two years and he shared a cell wit this dude who didn't really have anyone to speak to. So, he used to share his phone time with this dude and at the time I was probably 16 or 17, this dude was like 20-22, and he would always rap to me over the phone'it was Poverty, that was his rap name. After while I started to get into it and I started to write my own shit down. And after a while, he would call me and we would just rap to each other. And after my dad got out I kept in touch with dude and kept writing my shit down and eventually I learned from meeting people who were into music, too, the art of making a song and I accepted the fact that I wanted to be in music."

Drake’s prison correspondence school of rap

This article was originally on a blog post platform and may be missing photos, graphics or links.

https://www.latimes.com/archives/blogs/pop-hiss/story/2010-06-24/drakes-prison-correspondence-school-of-rap

“My dad went to jail for, like, a year on – I don’t even know what he was in jail for – an assault charge or a drug charge or something,” Drake recalled in an interview with The Times last month. “When he was in there, he had a cellmate who used to rap, but he had nobody to talk to.

I was probably 14; the guy was probably 21. My dad was like, ‘My son likes to rap so I’ma let you rap for him. I’ma share my phone time with you. I’m going to pass you the phone and here’s my cellmate. Say what’s up to him.” He continued: “The guy’s name was Poverty. He’d be like, ‘Let me spit something at you. I was like, ‘Whoah!’ And he’d spit something. ‘Alright, talk to you tomorrow.’”

Poverty coaxed Drake out of his shell and provided a de facto school of rap – even if the young MC eventually lost track of his hip-hop Yoda.

“Next day, my dad would call me. So I’d pick up and he’d pass the phone and the guy rapped again,” said Drake. “I had been writing raps but never rapped for anybody. I was like, ‘I’ma get my little rhyme book together tomorrow.’ And we’d go back and forth.

Family and relationships section: apparently false information

edit

The alleged relationships to Larry Graham and Teenie Hodges were not only never confirmed by those individuals, but were actually all but debunked by a genealogy researcher two years ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS-w0Zw1f8Q), long before all the major Drake controversy started. They are only based on unsupported claims to interviewers from Drake himself. That cannot be considered encyclopedic. Move to remove those claims from the article or at least put a giant asterisk on them. Succubus MacAstaroth (talk) 14:40, 24 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I have noticed the line, "In 2016, Drake caused a nightclub in Oklahoma City to close down, due to his usage of marijuana and other illegal drugs being prevalent at the club." However, said article dates to 2012. Is there something else I am missing or is this a mistake? Oh and also, the source y'all cited is paywalled. Have a good wikiing. 85.98.20.106 (talk) 08:03, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Resolved: Your observation is correct and it is a mistake, as when I searched for sources chronicling this incident, they likewise are dated to late March 2012. I've corrected the year and moved the passage to a chronologically appropriate spot. Left guide (talk) 09:24, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
