Slogans and Quotes

edit

Hello, isn't providing us with "the slogans and Quotes that Drayton Manor are using to advertise the park this season" the same thing as reproducing the park's advertising? I think that these should be removed. Politepunk 22:38, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lifeboat

edit

I couldn't find a press release from either Drayton Manor or RNLI about the funding of the lifeboat by Stormforce 10, I'm sure there must be one and it would be nice to add it as a reference, the nearest I could find was this HM The Queen to view new RNLI lifeboat at St James’s Palace that mentions the boat and seems to suggest that it's an Atlantic 85 which replaces an Atlantic 75, so I've altered this article to reflect that. --ericthefish 18:34, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

I've tried to reword the article to make it more neutral and less like an advert, I think the {{advert}} tag could be removed now, I'd like to hear what somebody else thinks first though. --ericthefish 16:46, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Future Projects & Rumours

edit

Unsubstantiated rumours don't really belong on wikipedia (See Verifiability), we need to find reliable sources for each of the predictions we've got in the future projects & rumours section, once referenced I think the section should be renamed 'Future projects'. --ericthefish 16:52, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

SkyFlyer Accident

edit

Removed the phrase "apparently due to a fatal accident" from the Pandemonium section, because as User:81.129.61.56 pointed out theres "no information about this incident on the internet". If anyone wants to put it back, please do so citing your sources. --ericthefish 20:03, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Zoo?

edit

Why is there no mention of the zoo area within the park? I don't actually know much about it, but was just wondering if it could be included

The news about the new Launched Coaster called Raging Waves has been a topic on Drayton Manor Plus Forums, however i believe that it not actual news and just idea, hence why i believe it should be removed.

edit

Don't you think external links should be put in? Drayton manor has loads of fan sites with information, so why shouldn't there be ant liks allowed?

Drayton Manor Plus

edit

Hi. I think this is where this information needs to go. I was just asking whether Drayton Manor Plus [1] could be added to the external links page on the Drayton Manor website. It is classed as mroe informative than the Drayton Manor home page, and has a wide range of members. The site does not contain any advertising [ie google] and has many reviews and features. I fully understand if my applciation is not accepted!

edit

Why aren't any of Drayton Manor fan sites aloud to have a link from this page? They contain more useful information than the official site anyway. Sites that should be added:

Edit: I have added the DMOZ template to Site Links as instructed.

Removed a chunk of uncited rumours from the references section

edit

I've removed a rather large section of text that had incorrectly been placed in the references section, if somebody wants to put it back, please feel free but please do add some citations (i.e. where did you get the information?) and add it to the correct section. --ericthefish 16:23, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 03:15, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

When was Drayton Manor the 4th most popular park? 1999,2004 or what? No evidence is provided that this is the 4th most popular UK park. It also does'nt state if it refers *only* to pay one price at the door such as Alton Towers or wheather pay per ride parks are included such as Blackpool pleasure beach. This fancible claim should be removed/updated or sourced URGENTLY!

EDIT: According to TEA / ERA Atraction attendence 2007 In the Top 20 European Parks 4 UK parks are there. Blackpool Pleasure Beach at 5.5 million, Alton Towers at 2.4 million, Thorpe Park at 1.7 million and finally Legoland Windsor at 1.65 million. No sign of Drayton Manor (or Chessington World of Adventures for that matter). I will delete this section in a few days or so, if no one objects. Thank You. Tony1000

Ok, I have removed the single sentence claiming the park is the 4th most popular in the UK as this claim appears not to be true. Tony1000 (talk) 17:02, 4 July 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs) 16:56, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced material

edit

The following is unsourced information:

  • Stormforce 10 was the first water ride in the UK to have a backwards drop.
  • George Bryan and his wife Vera opened Drayton Manor as an inland pleasure resort in 1949, and originally it was just a normal park with tea rooms, boat rides and a pets corner.
  • The Managing Director, Colin Bryan, is the son of George Bryan (MBE and OBE) and Vera Bryan. He has now been working for the park for 40 years.
  • 1.1 million people visited the park in 2005.
  • 1.2 million people visited the park in 2007.

While this is interesting, we can't use it unless you provide a source. Also, none of this is really trivia, as trivia by its definition is "unimportant information" - it therefore shouldn't be in a trivia section but instead the information should be incorporated into the main article. - Tbsdy lives (formerly Ta bu shi da yu) talk 10:45, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

There's also information from facts & figures that I've founded:
  • Stormforce 10 was the first water ride in the UK to have a backwards drop.
  • The owner and chairman, George Bryan went to Disneyland and went on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and took an idea from it to create Pirate Adventure which opened in Pirate Cove in 1990.

Stormforce and RLNI

edit

What is this bit about 'it's said' the managers nephew inspiring the ride??? Unsourced, should be removed henceforth. Futhermore the RNLI do charity work at Drayton, and I understand a cut of the profits go to it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darthedit (talkcontribs) 21:11, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Color Coding on Attraction Table

edit

Just wanted to point out that there is no mention of the purpose of the color coding. Is it just random pretty colors? Winston Spencer (talk) 13:48, 9 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Although the above question was asked in August 2012, there is still no indication of the meaning of the colours at April 2016. Perhaps they should be removed? --David Biddulph (talk) 04:19, 18 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
The colour coding for the first three sections appears to match with the colour coding of the park's own rides and attractions list on their website. As of 27/1/2019, the website rides and attractions page presents all rides in one list, so the colour coding is used to group into 'Family Rides', 'Thrill Rides', and 'Thomas Land'. The colouring is redundant on this page as the rides and attractions are already split into separate tables. Furthermore, the following tables in the section have no correlation to the website and no explanation on the page itself. I've removed the colouring as it appears redundant or unnecessary. Safari

edit

I miss the safari park, at least in the list of former attractions — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.71.12.129 (talk) 10:56, 2 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Attraction Key?

edit

The attraction key seems to not actually be used anywhere in the article. The table for each section of the park has a coloured header, but it's unrelated to the attraction key colours and each individual ride has no colour, so not sure what the point in it is.
