Add pictures and more links

I think more pictures and links to other articles should be added to make the article more friendly to beginning drummers, as advanced drummers will most likely already know how to tune a drum set. Pictures and additional links / references are key, but I don't believe it needs to be filtered by whether or not an advanced drummer might already know this information. Thoughts? Vertium (talk) 01:58, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Merge With 'Drum Kit'

I think this page should be merged with the "drum kit" article. This article is more indepth about drum sets, and this tuning article could fit right in and be put under one headline or multiple sub-headlines on the drum set page. Anyone else agree? I think not. The drum kit article is too long already, I've been looking for details to split out. However we should certainly link from there to here, once we have this article up to standard, which it patently isn't right now. Andrewa (talk) 22:10, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Multiple issues

The current content is unsourced, oversimplified, and I suspect original research. But it's a good topic and worth saving.

The title drum set fits happily with me, as the article is about tuning the drums only. In my dialect, a drum set is the drums only, while a drum kit includes cymbals, hardware and accessories. You wouldn't say he set up his drum set left handed, you'd say drum kit. On the other hand, a set of shells and skins only could be advertised as a drum set, but never a drum kit. Or that's my dialect, but I know there are others for whom the two terms are synonymous. Andrewa (talk) 22:10, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Move to main article Drums under a new heading 'Tuning'

In my opinion, we should filter out the important highlighted points from the article and move it under the new heading 'Tuning' in the main article. By this we will also increase the content on the main article as well as able to keep all the information regarding drums under one roof. I've since come across three articles, Rope-tension, Single-tension (drums), Double-tension, as well as Drum key. I believe they could all be merged into a new article Drum Tuning.

Styles of sound

Obviously styles are subjective, and I think the article is neutral to that. However, it would be really nice if there were small sections for different sound types and the adjustments usually required to attain that sound.
