Question about mentioning a LNG plant in the text

edit

What has oil pipeline to do with LNG plant???Beagel 18:45, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

reversal?

edit

The image and caption talk about a "proposed reversal", but this isn't mentioned in the article. The article does mention some proposed extensions, but to my mind "reversal" ought to mean something different? --Delirium 01:58, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually "proposed reversal" means Druzhba Adria pipeline. And its mentioned in the article that this includes reverse the flow of the Adria pipeline. But I think that maybe Druzhba Adria needs separate article?Beagel 20:27, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Lithuanian connection

edit

Our article on the Būtingė oil terminal states that, up till 2006, Butinge was also connected to this here Druzhba pipeline, and has a reference for it [1], however I see no mention of this in the present article. Perhaps it is not so clearly defined which Russian pipelines are part of Druzhba and which are not? Jan olieslagers (talk) 09:38, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

It is mentioned in the 'Route' section: The ORLEN Lietuva in Lithuania and Ventspils oil terminal in Latvia are connected to the main pipeline by the branch pipeline from Unecha junction in Bryansk Oblast (not shown on the map). This branch has ceased operation in 2006 and is not likely to become operational in any time soon. Beagel (talk) 15:36, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Druzhba pipelineDruzhba – Primary topic as evidenced by reliable sources. (previous discussion) wumbolo ^^^ 21:00, 12 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. Druzhba 'friendship' is a rather common Russian and Ukrainian word, used for numerous purposes, as evidenced in the dab page. Even taking the "primary topic" claim at face value (and I highly doubt it), the full, WP:RECOGNIZABLE name of the pipeline is "Druzhba pipeline". As Ymblanter said in that discussion, Google search shows a broad variety of uses on the first few pages, flatly disproving the PTOPIC claim. No such user (talk) 14:08, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
And I said in that discussion, Google search can't be used to determine a primary topic, flatly disproving that claim. wumbolo ^^^ 15:54, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. While I agree the results from search machines add little value, still it is obvious that Druzhba is a very generic word. Actually I think the present situation is quite correct: requesting "Druzhba" as such brings one to a disambiguation page - clearly illustrating how present the term is, even on these English language pages; one of the pages pointed to is Druzhba pipeline. For this once that things are perfectly in order, why would anyone wish to change them? What more could one wish? Jan olieslagers (talk) 16:43, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Since we are discussing a subject matter in Russia, I thought it worth its while to check what our Russian colleagues made of it. Unsurprisingly, I arrived at https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%94%D1%80%D1%83%D0%B6%D0%B1%D0%B0_(%D0%BD%D0%B5%D1%84%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B4). @Beagel: isn't Sputnik too generic? wumbolo ^^^ 21:45, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
It might well be. Perhaps that is why there is no Sputnik article, but there does exist a Sputnik (disambiguation) page. Jan olieslagers (talk) 04:36, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
