Adapter between Janney and SA-3

The adopter does exists,but it is just temporary ones (for emergency ). See https://patents.google.com/patent/US4102459
Probably it's made from casting or assembled parts by welding rolled steel sheets.
It's just like the file on the article page, not for using mainline with long term.
Their standard coupler heights are too close (Chinese AAR-850~890to Russian SA3-1060), meddle each other.
To solve the problem, coupler exchange. The movie exists here.

I don't know AAR's regulation (like coupler never exchange), but Europe, Russia and China are regulary changing coupler at the ex-soviet border. User:tadzu 04:19, 22 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Coupler exchange is bloody nonsense. If done at all, it would most probably be more time consuming than bogie exchange. The adapter was invented to be used at China/Russia as there is no need for it anywhere in North America. Inventions are made to fill a need and to be used where they are needed. But SA-3 was introduce 1930s~1950s,and opposed to sellect different type coupler by Joseph Stalin. Today,only some passenger cars(and a few carspart of the train)bogie&coupler exchange and go over the border,but most of the trains are passed over the loads on the border stations.
The russo-sino international passenger trains are reduced the exchanging coupler to minimum. Only outers ends of the train.
So,likeYiwu–London railway line and some trans-eurasia freight rail services are not working enough.
The containers are transfered to each flatcars owned by EU,ex-soviet and china.So, polish SUW 2000axles are not used.
If,Russia had chosen AAR coupler in 1930s,only 1 fleet equipped SUW 2000 axle could run through from China to London,without transshippig loads.

1:Trans-Eurasia Line has a big pottentiallity for the global economy. One can send goods within a third or less time-about 10-14 days- by ships (40-50days) western Europe-Far east Asia each other,and a half or less payment of the airplane, if different coupler problem did not exist.
Now the problem does exist,less usage.
2:The adoptor can't bear to the pulling force on mainline trains.[citation needed]
If, you make them much stronger, nobody can handle-put on, take put out.The compact type (now using,limited only emergency) weighs over 40 kg,hold by 2or3 staff.
Could you describe how handle such heavy adopter in shunting yards?

The grammar above somewhat tidied up. 40 kg adapter may not be a such a problem. Construction workers in Mexico regularly handle cement sacks that weigh 50 kg and think nothing off it. I can ask one of my friends in Mexico to send a photo of any brand, if need be. If it heavier than 50 kg, a small mobile crane could be designed to handle the adapter. Ok, coupler exchange is possible (coupler exchange}. But this is only because the coupler shanks and the pockets at the end of the cars have been especially and purposely designed to make this possible. On JR.EF81 Lokomotive. the AAR coupler on the right (far side) of the Shibata coupler. The Janney coupler is shown in position on the centerline and the Shibata coupler is shown as swung out of the way. There is a pivot in common allowing both to swing.

Both were shotted in Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park(碓氷峠鉄道文化むら Usui-tōge Tetsudō Bunka-mura). Some EF63 exhibits movable condition.
1:swiching coupler-Knukle to Shibata-mitchaku,and put back.
2:EF63's uncoupling and coupling.
The dual couplings of the EF63 has no release handle,because it made from one-piece molding cast.

Adaption between Janney coupler and buffer and chain coupler

Transition era AAR knuckle coupler. The gap can potentially accommodate the chain of a Buffers and chain coupler and the pin would have been an extra, but this has probably not yet been done done anywhere.

This would merely mean taking a flatcar and mount two buffers on each end creating an barrier wagon. This woud be useful for the train de Charlevoix Peter Horn User talk 23:20, 16 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
