Dry and wet weights
editThe dry weight is cited as a creditable 189 kg (420 lb), and the ready-to-roll wet weight is said to be a lardy 239 kg (530 lb). This is a difference of 50kg, which surely cannot be accounted for just by 20 litres of petrol and 3.4 litres of oil? It seems that unless dark matter is intervening, one or other of these weight figures is incorrect. Arrivisto (talk) 09:51, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- Plus battery. Anyway, dry weights are manufacturer claims. Cycle World doesn't drain the oil and fuel and remove the battery and weigh the bike. Independent testers just fill the bike up and weigh it wet, and print that alongside what they were told the dry weight was. So Ducati was lying when they said it was only 420lb dry, and they got caught when it tipped Cycle World's scale at 530lb wet. This is why Wikipedia treats claimed power, torque, speed, and weight with great caution. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 15:18, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
