Australia-UAE game
editI'm removing the bit about the Australia - UAE game added by 144.131.7.245 because: a) there is no record of this game in the Cricinfo match archive and b) Most (all?) of the 1992 season was pre-D/L and I assume from the example given (if that game did indeed take place) that the match actually represents a good example of the problems with pre-D/L methods of target calculation. I'm also removing the 'criticism' which mentions radio commentators as there are no sources.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.168.18.255 (talk) 21:20, 11 February 2007.

Duckworth–Lewis method → Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method – I believe that most major news sources now refer to either DLS or Duckworth–Lewis–Stern in their reporting / commentary of cricket (though a couple still use D/L in the statement of result on scorecard), so DLS is now the WP:COMMONNAME as well as the WP:OFFICIALNAME. Picking 2 recent matches to involve the use of the process (in an attempt to give extra weight to recent usage) :
- Sri Lanka v England in October 2018
- The following all use DLS and/or Duckworth-Lewis-Stern
- Cricinfo match report and Ball-by-ball commentary (though their statement of result in header still uses D/L)
- BBC Report,Over-by-over and scorecard
- Telegraph report / OBO and scorecard
- Talksport report (though the page title uses DL)
- Guardian report and OBO
- Cricket Australia
- ICC
- Indian express
- Hindustan Times
- India Today
- For balance, the following either D/L or both DL and DLS:
- Australia v India T20I in Nov 2018
- Reporting in all the below use DLS, though there is still a hangover of D/L on a couple of scorecards
- Cricinfo report
- Times of India Ball by Ball (though their scorecard uses D/L)
- Indian Express
- I've tried to include the first set of reliable sources I found on a google news search for these matches, and it does seem that almost all sources use DLS in their prose reporting, though there is still some use of DL on scorecards. As a side-note, I asked for an admin move of these pages to do exactly the above to be reversed, as this is a controversial move due to the previous discussion . - Support (and here's another important news site using DLS). --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 16:52, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
- The Beeb are hedging their bets on their scorecard, showing "Australia win by 4 runs (DLS Method) (D/L)"!Spike 'em (talk) 17:04, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
- Rain stopped play, England require 65 runs from 2 overs, er, I mean Support, per all of the above and the ICC formally adopted the term on 9th Jan 2017. Note this date isn't on the article, but if you search for the word "duckworth" via the search bar on the ICC site, this is the most recent result. - I'm Neutral. There still seems to be plenty of use of DL, for example recent articles: https://www.aol.co.uk/sport/2019/01/08/mccullum-and-lynn-blast-heat-to-duckworth-lewis-win-over-thunder/ and https://www.cricketworld.com/brisbane-heat-beat-sydney-thunder-by-15-runs-d-l-in-bbl/54289.htm Mmitchell10 (talk) 21:21, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

- Weak support - Colloquially it's still referred to as Duckworth–Lewis, so that might seem to be the appropriate title for the article per WP:COMMONNAME, but it is now properly known as Duckworth–Lewis–Stern. – PeeJay 10:47, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
