Needs work.
editI started this article, but it needs work on information about the recording of the song, its meaning, its origin, etc. - KB 08:19, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Coincidence?
editI was listening to an old Paul Revere & the Raiders album and heard the song "Powder Blue Mercedes Queen" with the lyrics "Do it like a lady! Chew it like lady!" which reminded me more than a little of this song's refrain... [1] Gr8white (talk) 23:33, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I heard the song again last night. Funny, I thought they were referring to a comment someone who was challenged may have stated about themselves. Maybe in the format of this "Powder Blue Mercedes Queen". They do look like ladies all of them, if you consider glam wears makeup. Maybe even a little child would make the same comment "Dude looks like a lady". For some reason, I am reminded of other things such as a comment someone made to myself when I was younger, a buddy of my sibling said I looked like a man from the back side. Being slightly built and female, it was somewhat insulting, but then again they usually were. Interestingly enough this one was taller than I was and of swedish descent? I never knew the swedish males to be "shorter and muscular", but I digress. I thought about it and decided maybe the ADA would be interested in the commentary. The wearing of makeup and long hair styles along with the thinner build on most of the band could easily result in a child or a challenged adult to respond "Look, look....DUDE looks like a lady!" I think when I was younger that applied. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.168.193.243 (talk) 11:39, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
And they were yelling it. Like most of the genre. The hippie druggers alcohol drinkers meet the world could be another view. Oh, no they could be biblical, I forgot Samson and Delihla, I hear the hippie druggers alcohol drinker types go for that stuff. Maybe it's just another one of those FREE LOVE promotions from the universities. When I look at the big picture they didn't really accomplish much. The big picture matters to everyone and that would categorize them as atypical egotistical, for the genre of such. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.168.193.243 (talk) 11:45, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, it sounds like a rip-off of the Paul Revere & the Raiders song "Powder Blue Mercedes Queen." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.47.155.107 (talk) 15:53, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
Policy discussion in progress
editThere is a policy discussion in progress at the Manual of Style which affects this page, suggesting that the capitalization of "like" should be removed. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. — LlywelynII 14:39, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
