DuPont Family

edit

The founding member of the family in the US is Eleuthère Irénée du Pont, so I will amend the reference accordingly.--ukexpat 15:33, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have rethought my previous change and now made it clear that this link refers to the French patriarch. --ukexpat 15:40, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Dow Chemical Company/DuPont

edit

It says on the Dow Chemical Company's page that it is the "World's second largest chemical company", but it also says this in this page. I am not sure which is which. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.93.179.70 (talk) 23:10, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Meaning

edit

"du Pont", "Dupont" or "Dupond", means in French "from the bridge" (du pont), it's a family name for those who propably lived near a bridge. It's said one of the most common French name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E35:8A8D:FE80:85CB:D00D:634D:E2B8 (talk) 14:18, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
