editThis page was written based on translations of id:Politik Etis and id:Kebangkitan nasional, along with some additional information from the two external link articles that I used to stitch the article together. It is by no means a finished product!--Sepa 20:26, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
The Ethical Policy and the emergebnce of Indonesian nationalism were separate phenomena and it's probably better to split this entry. Robert Cribb 03:56, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Do you mean separate articles? SatuSuro 04:05, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, separate articles. It seems to me that Dutch colonial policy is a different topic from the development of Indionesian national consciousness. Robert Cribb 04:17, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- It appears that when these Indonesian history articles were being developed, an attempt was made to make them all chronological and cover periods of time rather than topics. Certainly that seems the case for 20th century Indonesian history. No, that is not a reason to keep them together now, though.
- However, in some ways, the two topics are linked – was it not increased education opportunities for Indonesians unde the ethical policy (albeit for a small elite) that inadvertently encouraged, even facilitated such nationalist groups?
- I’d say if these articles get expanded, then certainly split them. If they remain at their current size I am not too fussed – if they are split, each would then have to have some words regarding the other topic to provide context. Although, separated, they become small articles.
- Split – or keep as one, I am not overly fussed. Merbabu 04:41, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I split it into two. Dutch Ethical Policy and Indonesian National Revival. --Merbabu 13:49, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
