Neal Stephenson

edit

Neal Stephenson's science fiction novel The Diamond Age: Or, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer gives an account of a book constructed with nanotechnology that speaks to its owner with lessons that are age-specific.

I can't see how the above is in any way relevant to the article. It isn't even a prodigious prophecy, since the quoted book is only ten years old.

Dynabook

edit

A visionary article appeared in the late 40's or early '50s that described a portable electronic book. I think the author was at MIT. My memory may be playing tricks on me, but I have always thought that the term "Dynabook" was used in that article. iPad or Android tablets

edit

The Xerox Dynabook may have served as an inspiration to the Apple iPad or the Android OS based tablet devices. Today if someone were to couple a keyboard with a tablet computer, it is essentially the same spirit as the device concept that was developed at the XEROX PARC facility. 2600:6C50:7600:3EFD:7942:C4D8:422C:B9F6 (talk) 07:48, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
