Rename proposal
editI think this article should be renamed as simply, "Dzong" rather than "Dzong architecture". Buddhist architecture can provide an overview of the subject whilst this article can provide details of the particular building type. --Mcginnly | Natter 10:13, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I don't think that is necessary because you are directed here if you enter 'dzong' anyway. Also the article 'Buddhist architecture' is very under-developed and to be comprehensive would need to cover a vast array of techniques and styles from Nepal and India to China to Japan to Thailand, so would really act as a summary pointing to articles like this. Re-ordering and corrections
editSome thoughts:
1. The UTEP information seems to unbalance the summary - should this be moved to a new section called 'Modern architecture based on dzong design'? This could also include examples built in Bhutan. Update: I have now done this as no objections. Keithuk 11:06, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
2. Having just visited Bhutan I am not aware of any dzong there that has golden circles in the border. Is this correct?
3. What other 'Himalayan Buddhist kingdoms' have dzong architecture besides Bhutan? Tibet?

~~I like what you have done.
Buddhist centres in the west in the Karma kagyu school are also called dzongs. 212.183.136.193 23:48, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I have taken the plunge and uprated to B as a lot of information has now been added about construction and several photographs. It is still relativley short but covers what most general readers are likely to want to know. The article is also better structured. As a next step a list of the Bhutan dzongs could be added, with short summaries (or if available links to articles about them). It could also do with more references.
