Allied with Cossacks?

edit

This seems wrong. Although most Russians in Siberia were called 'Cossacks', they were not an independent polity capable of making alliances. There might have been some arrangement with one of the local voyevods, or possibly even with the Russian state(?). This seems to refer to the minor action around Novoselenginsk. I am not aware of any Russian attack or annexation of territory, but I may be wrong. If the original writer does not want to research this, I will dig into my books after I finish some other stuff. I'll research this. I think that the arrangement may have been with the Russian state, or some kind of group representing it. Rwenonah (talk) 11:31, 11 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I seem to have had it the wrong way around. Khalka fleeing from the Zunghars attacked the Russians, instead of the other way around. It does seem to have been a genuine representative of the state, however. See here. pg,148 Rwenonah (talk) 11:37, 11 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
