Interview with Jerry Battey on YT

Hi, John from Idegon, you deleted the link to the interview with JB on their first Prom in 1993 stating in the summary that the standard YouTube license was not compatible with ours. I take that as an improvement of the article and I thank you for your support since I want to follow all rules, of course, and I appreciate everything that makes the article better. I only wonder why other language projects of Wikipedia integrate YT links in their articles all the time. Take, once again, the Germans: de.wikipedia.org uses the same servers as we do, so I guess the same laws apply, don't they? Although my German is ehm rather limited, they often feature YT links in articles. I simply don't understand why they can do it and we don't. Can you enlarge on that please? Wish I could, but I know nothing about de.wiki. Each language wiki is an entirely separate website with each having their own policies. The reason we can't link directly to vids with the standard YouTube license is it prohibits commercial reuse and ours does not. Possible reasons why your experience at de.wiki was different: there are other kinds of licensing available on YouTube. Perhaps the videos you saw were licensed differently. For example, we routinely link to C-SPAN videos hosted on YouTube, because since they are created by the federal government, they are in the public domain. Second thought, probably the most likely, de.wiki simply has a different rule. For example, if you could locate this school's logo, that could be uploaded to en.wiki (and if you can please do) as a "fair use" exception to copyright. You could not however upload it to Wiki Commons, which is where most images should be uploaded. They don't host fair use exceptions. Last thought, it may have something to do with the EU's copyright laws, which are considerably different than the US. I'm fairly long in tooth and not a world traveler. I decided about 15 years ago not to clutter my mind too much with things outside my sphere, such as the EU, so I really don't know. John from Idegon (talk) 08:59, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

Student body

General sources for demographic data (NCES, State DOE) don't track sexual orientation. Demographic data in general is difficult to find for historic schools. Billhpike, Rhadhow - any input here? John from Idegon (talk) 20:30, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

In one of the books I saw yesterday mentioning EAGLES was a brief passage on such things by one of the volunteer teachers if I recall that correctly. Let me try to dig that out again and see if we could use it for the article. There was a reason why I read but didn't use it. Oh and thanks for the support! Anti-gay protest and criticism

In the video of the 1994 prom, we can see a group of protesters ("God hates fags" and so on) outside the hotel. I couldn't find any documented criticism during my research though. Neither were those groups mentioned in the media nor could I find statements by assemblymen previously opposing the opening of a "gay high school" back in '94. Fixing broken links does not required consensus

@John from Idegon: Are you paying attention to the change that you're trying to keep? The reference, that you claim is the consensus edit, was broken like this: [[The Advocate (LGBT magazine)|]] I am simply correcting it so it looks like this: [[The Advocate (LGBT magazine)|The Advocate]]. It was broken by @BlackcurrantTea: here and it happened a month ago. So please tell me why this needs consensus and why you're edit warring over the fix? What do you think I'm actually doing to harm the article? If you revert again, I trust BlackcurrantTea will fix it to avoid a needless 3RR discussion.
